Some of you have seen most of this crap before, but here is a re-run..

I started on this heap in December. She looked pretty decent.

Unfortunately, the bottom 8 inches was Bondo, fiberglass and cardboard.

    Yuck.

Made some new panels and door jambs.

    The floor was also fucked.

    New floor and wheelwells.

The old firewall was butched. I think the dude was gonna install a BIG slant 6 or something..

New firewall and mock up motor.

Some dill hole cut out the inner structure, so I made this one.

Made a steering column and mocked up the dash.

Installed some re-pop driprails. (WAY easier than making em..)

And here she is today. About 95% mocked up. Ready to dis-assemble for paint and body.

    'Nuther.

That's it. Paint, body and final assy will be 9 months or so. She will be my usuall shiny black with a big ass Pontiac motor.

    See ya, -Abone.

  2. Damn! Now that is impressive! Unbelievable how much work you put into this car to get to where you are now. I couldn't imagine doing that all myself. Nice work! E

Another one... resurrected from the dead.

If this turns out anywhere near as nice as your Merc. it will be simply gorgeous.

Lookin good man - that's gonna be sweet.

The replacement drip rails remind me of a '40 we did for a guy a while back. Typical street rod, easter egg paint, and someone had shaved the drip rails (which I personally think looks like ASS on these cars). He wanted to 'de-street rod' it a little so it would sell better.

We originally were going to replace them but we had to grind through a soild inch of bondo to get to bare metal. We ended up welding 1/4 rod in place of the rails and molding them in.

Did you narrow the frame/rear? What size are your rear tires and wheels?

Scary how similar mine was to yours when I started. No floor, nor rockers, hacked up firewall--all same. I did the round rod moulded drip rails on mine after welding the top and side skins together. Doing final blocking now--getting ready for paint!!

    Race ya to Detroit???
