Sometime ago I decided that my Sports Coupe needed some careful attention ('bout the time of the engine swop/swops).

And as Gill and I are heading off to Eastern Europe next spring (2010 Pilsen Liberation festival) we needed the thrill of the journey to be backed up with the knowledge that the Coupe will get us there and back at reasonable speed - therefore we commissioned Buckland Automotive Engineering to Hop it up a bit.

My vision is to leave the car looking the same, with the option to remove the fenders and have a little more power for those long hills when we're going down the Rhine valley.

Here follows the first part of that journey - the Preparation.

As the Coupe looked when I first got it back in 2006.

A glimpse of what it will look like with the fenders off. I'll be leaving the splash aprons on.

    Yep was at the Hayride.

Currently stripped to bare chassis and shot blasted. Should have some more progress shots later in the week.

    A few more pics.

The chassis, springs and bones shot blasted, and it's all good news - no chassis cracks, damage or corrosion.

The turning point, fabrication starts soon.

Good news that your chassis is in such good condition should make the lads at Bucklands job a lot easier. You still going to the Drags this weekend, even without your ''A''?

Well, things have moved on leaps and bounds since my last post, and I'm dead chuffed with how it's turning out.

Going back to my brief on the build it was just that - brief! "I want the chassis to look like Ford could have made a Model A with a flattie 8, keep the wishbones un-split if possible, keep the original pedals and hand brake lever..."

Adrian and Drew have done the rest, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

The K member utilising as much of the original Ford steel as possible:

Nice project. But... what is that neat looking build in the backgrond? I could use more pix of that one, too. Thanx, Gary

It's the Greg Special. Flattie 8 powered special built in the 50's was all steel having an alloy body made, chassis work and a more powerful flattie fitted at the moment.

I know its used in VSCC events over here, might be some pictures on their website http://www.vscc.co.uk/vsccweb/

Looks great mate, are you going to box the chassis whilst you have it blown apart?

The cross member is hand fabbed, looks great don't it, just like it should be there.

I don't want it fully boxed, there'll be some boxing around the K member and pedals etc. Basicallly where most the flex is.

I can definitely see where you are taking this one and I am extremely excited about it. Looks awesome man!!! I can't wait to see the final result.

This is the same manner I would like to put my father In Law's '31 Chevy in. Bare bones and just right.

Thanks Chris, I've been following your Roadster swap from banger to 8 power - has given me inspiration for sure.

Thanks Scott, hopefully we'll have more updates towards the end of next week.
