Here's my grille, also courtesy of Lowe's. Took me three stores to collect enough in one day. Cashier asked why I needed so many, and I told her, you wouldn't believe me if I told you.

The chrome knobs came from my in-law's house they are the kitchen knobs from 1964 - the same year as the car. They replaced them in the 80's and put them in a box, I found them recently and put them on my car. The whole grill weighs 22 pounds [IMG]

My 58 Fairlane just got the knob job also, 168 polished brass door pulls. Thank God the Marine Corps taught me how to use Brasso.

Wow...cool thread! It has got me thinking of trying a row of chrome knobs on the front grill on my Acadian. If it looks good I will post a pic.

Do it! - 'cause most people don't know what the Acadian grill looks like anyway. Just tell 'em it was the "deluxe" trim:D:cool:

I've had many "car people" ask me if it was factory

What size holes in the perforated sheet metal would any one recommend? 1/16" 1/8" other? The car below appears to have 1/8" holes. Anyone know a good source in the Chicago area? I've found plain knobs for about a $1.20 each online, you can look up Belwith P213-26. I don't like the look of the expanded metal, I want to use the perforated stuff painted flat black. How much support does one of these grills need, I don't want it to flop around on my truck. Thanks.

I've had two cars with drawer pull knobs and I've always used '58 Ford grilles. The pattern makes it easy to make a pattern. The expanded metal I've seen at the local home store is too thin on it's own to support the knobs, maybe if you welded a support rod to the back for strength.

Here's a couple more pics of the front of my '60 with the grille. The second pic I got from here on the HAMB from last year's pileup, sorry I can't remember who took it to give credit.

I hear you. Most often people will ask me what year is my Nova...

Don't want to sound cheap (OK, I am cheap), but I priced out chrome knobs today, and the good ones go for around $5.79 each. I thought they would be around $2 each. I'm still gonna put chrome knobs on the grill, but may have to wait a bit. I have had a lot of bills recently that got to get paid...

We special ordered these V shped drawer pulls from Lowe's. Since we are doing bullets on the car, we thought these would carry out the theme, with what we call a "double bullett". LOL If you go to the desk and ask, they can give you a catalog of drawer pulls.
