1956 Olds Makeover Watson Style!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by clean cut creations, Aug 31, 2009.

  1. We recently traded a Harley for this 56 Olds Holiday and we couldn't let it sit at our shop lookin' like Fonz's dream car. We decided that the only way to do this makeover was Watson style!! Take a look at the videos and let me know what you think. I will post some stills when we get it back together later. Enjoy.....

    looks great..nice job

  17. I'll post em when we get it done a bit more.....
Plans are for a white pleat job and some chrome reversed wheels.

  18. This is gonna be awsome. I'm a huge Larry Watson fan. Whos paint are you using? That is a really nice shade of gold! Todd

  19. Great improvement!
What was the time between laying down the blue to running tape over it?

  20. We are shooting a Valspar DeBeer paint system. Really nice products. Works well on collision repair and custom work. They are the makers of the House of Color paint line.
The gold color is a toner from our paint mixing machine. Really turns out like "pagan Gold".

  21. I wait about 20 min. before masking over the pinstripe color. I really like doing the pinstriping this way. It may not be the classic way to do this but I think it keeps down on problems clearing over striping enamel and it's fast too. That "blue" color is actually a deep metallic purple, a late model ford color, it just looks blue in the pics.

Nice job, can't wait to see it finished.

  24. It's cool.....lotsa stuff is "personal taste". I was against them at first too. If it means anything, the flame style and placement was purposely meant to be a tip of the hat to George Mitobe's famous Watson painted 1957 Ford Ranchero. I have always loved the work on that one. We really tried to do our homework on this Olds....we wanted it to look dead on.

^^^That's the car that came to mind when I first saw your flame and panel layout. SPOT ON. You guys did a great job!

  26. We even printed out ALOT of pics of your paneled Olds Eryk. ;) I love your car! We wanted to do it right, in early watson style...something that could be photographed in black and white and look the part.

  27. We still need to add some trim and details, but so many of you wanted "finished" pics so...here you go
