(Pics: Andy Meaton) No! He saved it! Here's the story. Clark (Enbloc on here) was driving his old coupe (which now belongs to his Dad) at the Hot Rod Hayride here in the UK this last weekend. Part of the weekend festivities include a trip to a dirt track where the brave and the daft can have a blast around the oval, as Clark is doing here in these incredible pics. His girlfriend was in the passenger seat at the time, both wearing helmets and both okay. Note the expressions on the faces of those watching. Clark's Dad can be seen in the first pic; the bald guy in the middle wearing a black jacket. Of course, it doesn't take long for the Great British sense of humour to prevail... (Pic: RDB Rottenpop)
Dang, what was that saying in the 'sayings thread'? Ran out of talent half way through turn 3?? Great save. Doc. EDIT, I just re read my post, it sounds much worse than I meant it, just a joke. That is some bloody great driving!!!
Haha love the looks on peoples faces, everybody's jaw dropped. Looks like he needed more gas pedal. Hell of a save there Clark! Awesome pics too!
Either luck or a great save!!! I'll say a great save, the driver keep the front wheels turned into the roll to knock the car back on it's wheels.
great testimony to what is obviously a well built car and a guy who had the balls to hang on , keep his head and ride it out . Top save! .
The looks on the spectators faces are priceless! Very nice save. That's sooo much better than a "crashed ford" thread.
damn that took some balls just to take that thing on the track! a mostly stock model A on the dirt!!! nuh uh, no thanks!!! I'm guessing not enough air in the right front tire caused the edge of the tire to roll under a smidge and grab. I've heard some interesting stories about how bias plies react on the dirt. amazing save given how quick you can't counter steer in an A! I'm used to driving midgets that are one turn lock to lock (180 right, 180 left) I can't imagine having to crank it twice and then back to keep it off the rail!
........ and for thier next trick.......... seriously tho, glad to see it came back down on the tires.
almost makes me want to start a show at my local race track on a sunday afternoon. I'd probably go back to race mode and that would be BAD
The following saying fits this situation perfectly: "He's so lucky, he must have a horse shoe up his ass!"
man thats cool that he was willing to drive that on the dirt!!!i bet he thought he could try to swing the assend around to do some real dirttracking,i guess not!!glad he saved it.
. . . WOW !!!! , that's a great series of pics, they're even better because it stayed shiny side up . Just looking at those and thinking of what could have happened made me sick to my stomach, I would have needed a beer or eight after that .
Glad it didn't roll. But I would have to chalk this one up to more luck than skill. Great looking (still, thank goodness) car.
getting it back on four wheels wasn't that hard, the rookie oops usually comes into play rolling it over the left side overcompensating after the initial recovery. I still say it was good driving.
the dirt track racing at the Hayride always produces some spectacular moments..they had a 36 truck in to the barrier this year and Jim put his red flake, blown flattie 32 in to the barrier last year....but rods are to be driven not just looked at!
