Amazing workmanship on Aluminum Pickup at NSRA

Any Info on the weight of this beast? Must be a featherweight with that alluminum shell

 

No info about this pickup. We saw it driving around and just had to stop and see it up close.

 

The build thread is on here, can't find it at the moment, I'm sure someone will post it up, it a work of art!

 

I always appreciate a masters work of art and that is very nicely done

I saw the build thread on it, I knew the finished product would be mind blowing. I could stare at that for hours! Hope to see it in person one day. Wow.

I would have made the trip just to see it!

 

I spotted the truck when I was there on Friday and Jimmy was sitting in the shade behind it. I talked to him for a while and he is very modest and unassuming for someone with so much talent. It looks even better in real life.

I walked around it at the show sat. admiring it. Didn't realize it was aluminum but I could tell it was special. Craftsmanship like that stands out.

 

I am in one of those pictures looking at it! That thing was NICE!

 

Absolutely amazing. I could not stop looking at it friday. I went back saturday afternoon to show my dad and could not find it.

 

Deuce Roadster stoped by on his way home this afternoon and was telling me about the aluminum truck that was parked beside him,,,he said the work was outstanding and the guy and his wife were really great people. HRP

Call me a nit-picker, but '58 Chevy tail lights?

 

WOW now that is real craftsmanship in metal work! I am impressed.The gaps and lines are awesome.If it was mine I could never paint it.Maybe a thin clearcoat but not paint.WOW.

 

You're a nitpicker... Look at the Weesner painting, the guy did it from the painting, hence the taillights...

the lights are true to the original Weesner artwork and I think that they look great--you are old like me and should be able to remember when that sort of stuff was standard fare for rods, especially the sort that Keith features in his art.

i wet sanded on some valve covers with 1000 grit this weekend,ended up with that look.

i think it looks much better than polished.

 

I did a search of Weesner, great pics of the build there.

 

The guy ( Jimmy, the aluminum Model A builder ) was parked next to my Deuce 3W ... and he and his wife were very nice and likeable folks. We sat and talked most of the weekend. He and his wife had been coming to Louisville since 1988 and this is the first time he has ever had a vehicle registered at the Nationals.

The workmanship is very, very good. He owns a metal working shop ...
