Event Coverage Dixie Fried 10 a decade of decadence

Well folks we are a little late in getting this out, but here it is. The one that people in the know don't miss...

Dixie Fried 10 Sunday Sept 6th 2009 ONE DAY ONLY!




now I know what your thinking. one day only, what's that crap about? I'm supposed to drive (insert miles driven here) for a one day show.
but do you really want to miss out on the 10th anniversary of this show? Ask anyone that has been to this show before if they think it is worth it.

Now trust me when I tell you, the Road Kings would love to host the show all weekend as in previous years but this is what upper management has deemed necessary for this year. And it's our job to prove them wrong so Dixie Fried 10 doesn't end up being the last. We need everyone to show up and show upper management that this show is worth doing for the whole weekend next year.

I promise those that do attend the same kick ass time they have had in previous years just in a more condensed version.

Sorry this decision was made, for whatever reason, but it eliminates me. Aylanta Motor Speedway has moved the Fall race to Labor Day weekend on Sunday night.
I have a long standing tradition of attending their races, since 1960 inaugural, and have reserved partking spot in infield against the fence in middle of turns 3&4. This costs me $300+ per year.
My plan had been to attend Dixie Fried on Sat. and camp for the night, then head to AMS for Sun. night and camp till Mon. am.
This "upper management" decision blows that plan all to shit and i won't be there.

Just curious if you have guys tried to get one of my favorite bands out of Nashville? Hillbilly Casino, I talked to them in Nashville, at the 5 Spot in June, they had just returned from the Road Rocket Rumble in Indy and said they had a blast and would love to do more car shows....just a suggestion. They really are one kick ass band you need to check out or at least pass on to the Road King responsible for booking.

 

Plan on being there in a pre-64 vehicle this time. I gotta get remotivated on this stupid truck.

Highlight of the year!
There will still be movies all night, so if you think about it thats like 24 hrs of fun!

 

Thinking on making my 1st full trip ( attempted one year, got 60 miles from home and broke) and was wondering ---- if it is only a one day show,,,,, does that take out the camping aspect of the weekend?????????? That's is half of what I was coming for!!!!!!

The other half was to take that half-bred, cheezheaded, sockfucker from the NORT country for a spin in my toy!!!

Maybe I will make the front page of a magazine sittin on a tire, gettin drunk like I do every day!!!!!

 

Car Show and Party all day, Movies and Party all night long. It's more of passing out than actual camping...

Plenty of opportunities to drink in, on, or around a tire... even a bias ply if ya want to stay traditional...

10 hours is a long way to drive for a one day event. Who is hosting the Saturday pre-party? Come on now, one of you guys needs to get that going!

 

I'm not going to volunteer someone else, but Brad54 has his monthly Swap Meet the first Saturday of every month, that would make for a nice "pre-party", and I'm sure he wouldn't mind all the extra attendance at his swap meet...

shit itll be my trucks first show, and im going to the race that night! ive been going to the atlanta race since i was 8 ( im 21) and dammit im making it to the show too.

 

Pass out,, camping,,, same thing. I just don't want to come to, or wake up locked behind those gates!! Or even worse,, be put outside the gate unable to drive and have to defend my property in THAT neighborhood all night!!!!!

 

The drive in is kinda like an island that just happens to be located in a less than desireable section of town. I'd be more worried about the Dixie Fried/Dive-Invasion attendies getting out after dark than the locals getting in.

Cool deal. I live maybe 6 miles from there. Sorta sucks they cut it to one day only. It almost promotes people being impaired driving home. This is when self control steps in...either way it will be a good one. Im getting the truck striped this year as well.

 

Hell with it!!!! I think I can outrun them to I-285 then coast to the nearest HAMB friendly campground( I-E rest area)! No wait,,, the nearest one is still in Fulton County ,,, Maybe the second one!!!! Either way I think I am in just to see the look on Cheezhead's face. Come on down you Nort'erner!!!
