I have a solid cam and dont know what to set the lash at. casting number is 3736098. I have checked out older posts. some say 30/30 or 20/20 I have even found 12/18, what is the correct setting.

  2. 12 and 18 is correct for that cam.

I have a 098 Chevy solid lifter cam in one of my 283 sbc. 12/18 is the recommended adjustment. The 098 is a very sought after camshaft and I've seen them sell for up to $300. on the internet. It has a lot more bottom end than the 30/30 327 cam. Check on the Corvette sites for comparison of part numbers and settings. The FOGGER

  5. That was real popular in the 60s with small engines.

That cam preceeded the .030/.030 cam and was one of Duntovs early grinds. A much better cam for a small displacement small block that is destined for street operation.

Millings part number C8P for the 098.. the 30 30 is C10P. If anybody wants to know they were ground by millings and packged fore GM with GM part numbers..
