I received these pic in an e-mail thought you guys would enjoy them.

This beautiful 1957 Bel Aire, which will soon have a tube chassis and a new motor installed.

The next thing I saw was a whole room full of Corvettes,

Old Chevrolets and various other General Motors vehicles.

I mean talk about being in heaven - WOW.

I will just let you look and realize that the pictures do not do justice to this collection:

Of course there was memorabilia everywhere:

I have to say as I walked through the cars I saw a red object that caught my eye.

Upon further investigation it was the 'Miss Budweiser'

Unlimited hydroplane along with the trailer and hauler:

This is the Number 1 hull..

As I walked along there were cars that brought back many memories.

I happen to love 1963 Chevys and this was a beautiful example:

In talking to the owner he told me that he 'wanted to get cars with the big motors,

Available from dealers and stick shifts.'

This Camaro was something I had never seen and I guess

There were only 69 produced and all were spoken for in advance:

As we were leaving I noticed a white mid-year with a newer Z06 badge

On the front fender and a C5 Logo on the front fascia:

Of course I asked for the story and was very amazed

When the hood was opened and I saw what was inside:

Not really HAMB friendly maybe you should have posted on the Chebbies are us board.

That said I'd prefer to see each and every one of those in separate hands and being driven instead of rotting away in a shed.

Yeah, guess I didn't really think about that.
And yes, I rather see them being driven as well, hell of a collection though... rich people ;(

The nice thing about a collection is that it requires very little from the collector. Probably also the worst thing about collections. (I sometimes feel a little guilty about a small knife collection for the latter reason.) Like the fact that most HotRods are hands on, so I have to agree.

What are you talking about dude??? they look very well cared for...

That’s awesome… I’d love to check that out one of these days.
It’s sad but some cars need to be saved from today’s streets, check out the other thread on classic wrecks. :(

Yes, well cared for but after having tons of money thrown at them to get them perfect there they sit. If you show me that he regulary pulls them out and drives them I'll shut up.
I'm one of those people who would rather see owners of such cars actually drive them on a regular basis instead of stash them away in a valt and then go after another desireable car to do the same thing with.
If you told me that he regularly pulls one out and drives it to an event or on one of the long distance road cruises I'd be more than impressed.

But it will make for a hell of an auction some day.

Guys like this have a serious mental problem. Not to mention this is why car prices get out of control.

I find it hard to believe that there are critics for such a nice collection, is it just envy? Maybe all the cars aren't HAMB friendly, but a good portion of them are. And if you can't admire the balance of them, you aren't a real car guy. Thanks for sharing your experience and the nice photographs. Best porn I've looked at today.

Why is it such a problem that some guy did real well for himself and instead of spending it on a 100 foot long yacht (figure 30 to 40 million bucks) he spent it on cars?

Not necessarily the cars I would buy but still a really great collection. PLUS something you guys are forgetting, this dude let the public in AND let them take pictures! Do you know how many collections are out there that you will never get to see? Part of the reason is the reaction in this thread.

They may not all be HAMB friendly but I gotta admit, that is as awesome a collection of beautiful rides as I 've seen anywhere. Just the fact that they are owned by one man says alot in itself. There's a whole lotta cool in there IMO

Boy usually guys that have a collection like that don't let anybody see it unless they're going to sell.

That's really cool that he let people check them out.

After a short while stock musclecars just make my eyes glaze over, and that collection is entirely overwhelming to begin with.

That garage, however, I could study for a good long time! Man that place is pretty cool!

You ever see 'this guys garage' in car craft magazine where they show someone's killer shop every month? Just really neat, but god does it make me jealous!

The fella with these chevys must have really done something right to get that many. Hats off to him, even if he is one of those corvette owners ;-)

I agree completely. Sure it great to see them all together, but its also a waste to see them sit :|

(Of course if I owned them all, then it would be okay)

If I had that kind of money...(or any kind of money, actually) .........my collection would be alot more diverse. It's nice that he lets people look at them. Good for him.

Who hasn't dreamed about being able to obtain/restore/rod whatever your heart desires? I sure have......

  26. Geez, why all the hate?

When one of "us" gets a shot at, say, a cherry 32 3w or a 36 sedan or Model A garage find---none of the haters comment on "how terrible it is, all those cars just sat" "what a waste"
I'm HAPPY for this guy. He's living a dream. And more power to him if he asks ten bucks to take a tour. If he's smart enough to accumulate this collection, he's sure as hell not the guy who cleans the cars, mops the floors, etc. SOMEbody's gotta do it. That, and somebody's gotta pay insurance/property taxes/utilities/maintenance.
Someday, some lucky folks will have the opportunity to own what he owns now, and he's gonna be a HERO for keeping this stuff for future generations to enjoy.

I didn't say I hated him. I was merely pointing out that he was not letting folks in to see the collection in his garage as some of the other posts seemed to indicate.

If I had all of those cars I'd be looking for a way to defray the costs too.

  30. I thought that guy looked familiar.I met him awhile ago over at a friend of mine's place. He too has a place in Naples(FL)and has an amazing collection of cars.Maybe not HAMB friendly either(except maybe for one of his 41 Willys coupes with a BDS blown Donovan 417 in it)but he is no rich guy who don't know anything either. He has ALL of his cars registered and insured(no dealer plates)and drives the hell out of every one.He is a retired air freight line owner and race car driver in his 70's now and although he doesn't do as much wrenching as he used to he still is very capable of doing so.
He is also a very regular guy who,if you didn't know it,would never suspect him of being wealthy. He likes to give tours of his shop as well.
And to the person who spoke about knife collecting;I have collected them for more than 50 years and enjoy them as much as I do automobiles.
