Incredible work alright! I thought my buddy and metal man was the best in the country, but he might have met his match there. Lots of hours (and dollars) in that piece, but so much of the repro stuff is junk. I've got several pieces from EMS for my '37 Ford that is pretty much unuseable (cowl patches, inner and outer, and rocker panels) I'd love to see your guy working. Thanks for sharing the pictures, Bill

    a fordor into a 3 window?

That would be a tough chore. You would only use the front cowl. Sedans have a different back window also. Now a 5w into a 3 window sure... using 3w doors or tudor doors and converting them. I believe he makes a piece to help in converting tudor doors into 3w doors. A 5w into a 3w wouldnt be that hard(still challenging). I know a guy that did it and I have a spare 5w body that I think about making into a 3w every now and than.

Having a friend that needed some of the panels that Mr. Smart makes I've been aware of him for some time. Good to see the quality of his parts. My friend eventually found some pristine stock panels todo his car so he nevercontactd Mr. Smart about his.

Top notch by far, and carefully done. No quick stamping here. I've seen the stuff first hand. All I can say is it requires dedication to do what he does. When a piece is carefully hand made it makes it well worth the price to avoid buying crap and then spending hours on end to make it fit.

looks like a great project! Keep it unchopped, just for something different (I speak from the experience of my chopped 3 window).

  24. I have known Donnie Smart for quite a long time. I have purchased serval sets of his sub rails for 33-34 . They are the best on the market. They fit like a glove. All of the panels he makes fit perfect. The profile and detail is perfect. His hammer, torch, welding and tig welding cant be beat. All of his panels are hand formed. The complete floor pans he builds are beautiful. He is a true craftman and best of all a great person.
