Imagine this...
in 1926 there was an automobile known as 'Super Sport'. Eddie Rickenbacker was a World War One flying ace, a captain of industry, head of an airline, a legend in his own time. He survived wars, being lost at sea and the battles of the corporate board room. His automobile company produced a full line of cars. The down side of all of this was that they were far to costly for the time. Technologically interesting, and stylistically beautiful, the 1926 Rickenbacker Super Sport was about as rare back then as one, and I mean one, is today. The sole survivor rests in the Palm Springs CA Air Museum. I couldn't resist.

Here's my third venture into single seat retro rods.
Elements of old and new fill this Saturday morning road burner. The idea here was to incorporate tradition and future tech. I'm liking the idea of downforce directed to each wheel individually via the use of spoilers with flat fender tops. Look close; thats a flathead hooked-up to a ZF transaxle. The Retro Solo.

Looks like this thread caught on, so here's what I have. A fink'd version of Eric, aka "Butter Boy Johnson", on his Triumph. the other one is just something I got to do on a local gearhead I had never met.

Here’s my latest charcoal…it’s 36” x 15”, a lot smaller than I usually work (yes, size matters!). It’s a ’38 Delahaye 135M, probably a little froo-froo for this board…but then again I’m willing to bet Giuseppe Figoni would have been a hamber given the opportunity. Thanks! Molly

Well this is the first In 10 jackets that I will be doing and updating for pilots and crew associated with the "Liberty Belle" foundation. I am stoked to be associated with this and look forward to some b-17 rides in the future!!!
Fresh off the presses as of 1 hour ago. Hand painted on modern day reproduction A-2. Pebbly leather texture courtesy of goatskin. ![]() ![]()

WHAT A GREAT START.
Not a lot of free time so I just banged this one out. Gearing up for an all nighter tonight. work can sometimes really suck. Glad I have work tho... I just started drawing with nothing in mind but what my mind created. ToddJ and Sinister sketches got me going...

Thank you . I really like your perspective and composition for your upcoming painting ..well done. The liberty belle thing had to adhere to a previous design so that it would match the nose art on the b-17 itself. I would rather paint on smoother jackets (horsehide) there will be one up next week here that is going to be more in the lines of what can be accomplished when given free reign for composition and style. Hooray friday art show! Jerome

Got these back from the printer this week. I will put them in the classifieds. Still waiting for the spark plug shirt, but the test print looked pretty bad ass if I don't say so myself.

I haven't posted anything for a while so here goes. A new laser cut sign, "Happy Hour Motel". Individual laser cut pieces that are primed, painted then assembled. The angled close up shot shows the stacking a little better.

Hi Everyone
I am new to the HAMB so this is my first time I have posted any pics. I have been watching the Friday art show the last 2 weeks in amazment! So much awesome work and talented people, great stuff. I am not really an artist as such, but a sign painter by trade now more so custom painting. My first panel is 8" x 20" airbrushed with base coat and satin cleared. The gas pump is 4' tall, red candy metal flake middle, base coat and urethene striping paint. offset on a grinded aluminum panel. Hope you like them. Cheers Darren |

As Norwell mentioned earlier, this weekend is California Screamin' 4 at Gasoline Gallery. Lotsa great cars, music, etc.... but best of all, the roster of artists and art for the show is amazing. Swing by if you can! Flyer art by my bro Damian Fulton.

Hi all,
This is my first post of my work on the Friday art show. Last week I asked you all for the favor of making me a poster for a HAMB car show we are putting together this weekend (mothers day) and I came up with one myself. I am proud of the concept I came up with but would appreciate any comments and critiques. I am also working on pasting the photo directly into the post and not the click on attachment type. Thanks! Oh, and by the way stop in to the show, we would love to see you there! |

Here's some stuff i've been working on this week.
The panel is flat black with gloss black and red striping. I think the gloss on the flat gives it almost a 3d look. |

Here's a quick snapshot of some recent work. I posted it during the round up but I recently updated the color.
This is a marker pen rendering of a man who bought this Harley knuckle head new in 1946, and owned for 62 years, until he passed away dec '08. the artwork was done for his family ,as a memory of the man and his machine;in his favorite boots and levis that he lived in . waldo. |

Its to return the favor of putting on two free comedy relief shows in the town of Wilmington. Small one company town, DHL moved out causing a loss of thousands of jobs. Thought he might enjoy seeing a free car show while he is there. Check out the thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=357212

My submission for this week.
12"X24" Acrylic on wood. So much fine, fine talent on here, always. Was working on some pinstriping this week, if it wasn't on aluminum I would have burned it. Maybe I should leave it to the pros^^^. BR |

Hello from Toronto.
First time poster but a lifetime of custom passion. The work on this board is tremendous, thank you for the inspiration. I'm coming back to this style after a long hiatus and being introduced to The H.A.M.B. makes me appreciate it that much more. Nicholas. EDIT: Please excuse my impromptu drop in, as I was not sure how to ease into this forum. Last edited by Rig of Mortis; 05-08-2009 at 05:37 PM. Reason: Adding more artwork and providing a link to my introduction. |

In reference to the Ala Kart...
Thanks...yup it was for the 50th Anniversary shirt. The original photo reference was from the AMT card included in the model kit. I was given a lot of great reference from the Guys at Brizio's and Darryl Hollenbeck. Last edited by WhateverWeber; 05-08-2009 at 04:28 PM. Reason: i forgot stuff |

Awesome talent on here. The Best!
Here are a couple pics from the 'ol archive. The flamed Olds will be one of the pics in the new Barris Photography DVD by Mad Fabricators. The Di Dia will be in a new Taschen book by Jim Cherry. And an old decal thrown in for fun. (I think Dean Jeffries drew the art back in the day) Cheers. |

Last minute plug for our car show in Culver City Calif. Poster Art by Britt Madding (except for the illustration of Elvira and the Drive Inn). Plus a flyer with a rare pic of the Jessie Lopez Ford. Hope to see some of you there!! Then off to the Gasoline "California Screamin" Art Show in El Segundo.

Hum… I think after I leave the "Single Finger Speed Shop". I'll catch a lift from Frankenstein, then head on over to the motor-pool to see what Bettie's puttin' down!
Also, I see some cool Tat's, Some masterful ball point pen, the club in front of the club, wood grain stain, pinsriping, the Alla Kart… and other good shit…

There's a relaxed coolness to this weeks show.
outstanding work from true professionals, yet, there's more of an improvised sense than the norm and I like it.

I ,ah....don't want to be a prick or anything, but your avatar is my artwork and I wasn't asked. That is a customers piece that was bought and payed for. I'm just using it for promotional reasons and it is not for sale or use without my clients approval. I really appreciate the compliment and I'm glad you like my piece, but put yourself in his shoes. He payed for the artwork and is making prints and tee-shirts for sale. Contact me and we can work something out with one of my personal pieces or something I make up just for you. thanks, Del

No problem. If it was a personal piece and you asked, I'd be O.K. with it.
Thanks for changing it. Del Quote:

With all that said, I agree 100% that too many people think it's OK to use what ever they want off the internet and you did what was right by not posting anything else that might be used with out your consent. I don't think most people even realize they are doing anything wrong by doing so though, and once they are schooled they understand. Anyway, just some thoughts. It sucks, but it's also a compliment. So how about a late post. Some older stuff, two phony record covers I did for my buddies, and a wedding cake I designed. The guy that actually did the cake did the most amazing thing I have seen with frosting. The picture does not do it justice. See ya around!

I don't see a problem with using something for an avatar. It's not like money is being made from using the avatar image. I've done it with old Roth/Newt/Mouse images. I wouldn't care if someone used one of my "art" pieces...although, I do think it's an even nicer gesture to ask the artist (if possible), first.
Nice show. Been awhile since I checked in on one. Some really talented people out there. |

No clock pics this week... I have a bunch in the works -but not done.
Here's a before shot of a 54 Chevy that someone asked to see a color change. He wanted to see it in flat gold with a white roof and a shortened side molding on it. Here's a quick color change... Last edited by -DouG-; 05-09-2009 at 11:52 AM. |

Lefty Lucy, I don't want to go the week end without mentioning
your art. Another beautiful piece, keep at it and don't be such a stranger... Speaking of strangers, I was just thinking about this guy yesterday. I've seen lots of yellow crosses but Cab's is the one I expect to see accompanied with an amazing piece of art. Of late, it's been words alone. From one knucklehead to another, it's good to see something new. Great work my friend. Quote:

Admired you work for many years - nobody does photoreal t-shirt art better!
So is this a poster? Can I get one? Please? Really.

Awesome stuff this week guys.
Road Apple - I love the new shirt designs Allison - I love all the new artwork, especially the orange paint scheme on the '55. I'm not usally a fan of tri-fives but the dual hood scoops and the stripe really look good.
