p.s. what fatandloose was referring to is your anti squat, like you had it previously you would lose traction and like he said your braking would chatter. the program will also tell you your roll center height, roll center axis, vector calculations, material calc. and other stuff too. pretty cool

Not having any FEA software I'll just throw this out...I would extend the plate on the frame such that the line of the angled braces/gussets would intersect at the top of the frame rail. I think this might have a better 'look'. Bolts are fine as long as they meet your shear loads and I would add a 'matched drilled' backing plate inside the rail.
Yeah I know, it's overkill.... Gary

the goal of the 4link is to parallel with the ground at normal ride height. but if you think about it you have a 4bt and that engine isnt gonna be slinging 450hp to the rear so its not absolutely critical but what you have now will cause your suspension to act drastically better than you had it before. I say it looks good but further the better. Keep it up

Do you have the add-in for stress analysis?
At a minimum, I'm thinking boxing plate, but a crossmember with triangulation is what I see when I look at it. But then, I tend to think in terms of shock loads from depth charges, so take it for what it's worth.

I see no need for a crossmember, being a 2 ton frame, I'm sure it's plenty stout enough. Are your frame splices from the shorten-up anywhere near the four-bar mounts?
Your design looks good, maybe a similarly-gusseted backing plate if you're going to do a bolt in. I wish I had some way to put on paper what I see in my head... I use a TON of cardboard and drawings to get my visions across. I see a combination of the vertical plate in your renderings, bent on a brake to resemble the earlier pics posted with the \____/ shaped rectangular tubing... very strong, clean, and nice... in my head anyway. My biggest problem is that my visions far surpass my fabricating abilities!

Very nice. I've been thinkin about doing a 4-link airbag setup for the diamond. Just a matter of time and resources, it's not high on the priority list at the moment.
How do you like the ride quality on yours? Which kit did you end up going with for the hardware? |

Note comment on the ride quality yet as it hasn't seen the road..... All my hardware is either home fabricated or I use Suicide Door Company or Welder Series....... Bar none I've had nothing but positive experiences with both..... Mounts are getting machined as we speak... it'll be a few days yet but maybe next week I'll have further progress.... ~M

its kinda refreshing to see it restored to what its intended to be. not that i mind a hot rod build but it seems like so many are destined to be chopped and altered to where you cant tell what it spent its life as.
good job on the build so far. kudos to you!

There was some minor drama on this thread last night which lead to 3 of my posts & seemingly all the posts by the guy who responded to my 9pm post being deleted. For some reason one of my posts was left intact when it should have also been deleted... so I just deleted it myself.
Nothing to see here... move along...

Just got my bendix AD-9......... oooo weee ($30.00 only too to boot)
![]() PS..... for those wondering its a commercial truck air/water seperator that automatically discharges the water/debris out on purge/charge cycle by using my D2 governor and a 12V heater element..... aka the big truck PSHHHHHH that you hear at a stop light.... (if its not bleed off from the air brakes)
