been a while since i posted any updates,,mostly because up until today,,i hadn't made much notable progress on the telstar, due to moving into a new shop....im getting ready to seperate the body from the chassis, so i can paint it, run brake lines, detail the engine,,etc, etc,,,,,before that can be done,,the body needs to be welded up solid, so it doesn't flex in the process.....as most of you know, i sectioned the car two inches,,but most of the welds were only tacked except for the quarters,,so i welded up the firewall,,still need to do the door frames,,,,,ive been removing the HEAVY undercoating from the floors, inner wheelwells, etc,,,i had originally cut the inner wheelwells down when i had plans to use the hood from a 56 lincoln as my deck lid (it would have been sunken further down,,thats why the tops of the inner wheelwells were cut down),,,,the only problem was that i had cut them down twice,,unfortunately,,i discarded the metal i cut out of the second cut,,,so instead of simply welding the pieces back, i ended up having to make some new pieces to add....the fins are tacked, and the next step is to start welding them solid to the car,,,,,

Can I ask why you made that wheelwell piece out of separate pieces and not just one big filler panel? Something I'm not seeing?

Any final plans for the roof yet?

Remind me what this cool thing started out as again.

Looks like it is somehow losing pieces and getting smaller though.

You sure you don't need medical help?

Great work! Thanks for taking the time to update us. Sometimes its hard to remember and you don't think it is a big deal to take a few shots of what you are working on until its finished. Then you are like oh shit, where did the time go.

todays work,,,,more welding,,,,,,started playing around with the idea of a twin fin,,,basically a mirror image of the top fin,,,but much smaller (thinner) ala 61 caddy......
im really liking the possibilities here,,,,im back hot and heavy on the car,,,no major changes planned,,,just "tweaking" and "fine tuning",,,,,and WELDING,,hahaha,,,

man it's looking good! i think you've reached the point where you can drop the word shoebox from the title. i don't think only the firewall and floor pan qualify as a car. it's now the Telstar, says it all!
