Default Burma Shave with the Statler Brothers - a look back

Oh how I so remember the Burma Shave signs along route 66. This is a great look back to that era. This is for us old farts so skip if you are under 60 or so... Oh yes, there are even a few photos of the old cars :-)

You may need to watch it twice; once to watch the Burma shave signs change and once to catch
all the pictures plus listening to the music of the Statler Brothers. THIS IS REALLY GREAT.

I am only sending this to my 'older friends' because most folks under 50 would have no idea
what I am talking about.. 'Too bad they missed it!'

Despite The Post Nazi, I enjoyed it. Thanks!
(And I'm just 38.)

If you don't know
Who's signs these are
You haven't driven
Very far!

Spotted that one on Rt. 66 last summer, while driving an all-original '73 Duster home to Atlanta from LA. Left a message on my mom's cell phone with the first four signs. Got a message a few hours later with her laughing/yelling "Burma Shave!" and then she hung up!

Made our day.

It does however look like some have not seen this (including me).

In about '62 or '63 we were running through Idaho and saw:
Ben met Anna
Made a hit
Had a fight
Ben-Anna split.
Burma Shave

so my Mom immediately wants a bananna split; next town we stop at the malt shop and my Mom orders a bananna split. The waitress says: "Ma'am, we are all out of banannas. Everyone wants a bananna split and I don't know why!"

Seen it before but always glad to look one more time. The Post police on HAMB evidently have a lot more time to cruise these post than most readers do and need to realize that because there on here 24/7 is no sign all the readers are. Over all it's a great site for history and knowledge.

Haha...no kidding. This site is so huge, if the "search first" rule was strictly enforced, there'd be very few new threads. But maybe that's OK too, I dunno.

Love the Burma Shave stuff. There are still some originals out here in Montana. You can buy repros, I want to setup some on the road to my place:

Listen birds
These signs cost money
Roost a while
But don't get funny
Burma Shave

The one on The Fastest Indian was pretty good to, something about a smoother rooster, can't remember exactly.

Thanks for the thread.
