Default ****The 2009 GNRS... TJJ: Best Roadster - Vote NOW!

It's simple. We polled a few of our favorite builders at the 2009 Grand National Roadster Show and asked them what their favorite roadster of the event was... And now, you guys get to vote for your favorite from the bunch.

Voting will end on Sunday (not sure on the time yet) and the car with the most votes will win the first annual Jalopy Journal: Best Roadster trophy that was built and delivered by Acme Speed Shop. More on the trophy later... For now, here's the 2009 entrants.

****was just notified. The vote will end tonight, so you had better vote now.

Default Re: ****The 2009 GNRS... TJJ: Best Roadster - Vote NOW!

A couple of answers to questions that I've already gotten... And then, I'm going to bed.

1. I asked all of the builders casually so as not to stress them out and to get their gut reactions. I didn't tell any of them why I was asking although some already knew... Fellas polled include the likes of Dennis McPhail, Rod Powell, Jimmy White, Troy Laden, etc... I picked one of the finalist myself because I'm selfish... damnit.

2. The only rule was the car couldn't be a historical AMBR winner (if so, I think the Neikamp would win every year) and the car, obviously, had to be a roadster.

Well it was tough, I narrowed it down to 2 of them and made my pick. Thanks Ryan for letting us play along!

difficult choice between cars 7 and 9......but Steve has stuck with his Daimler Hemi in the Blue 32 and I did see it at his shop last year in bare metal so I know how well it's been built.....so it's got to be car 9

Ryan - thanks for bringing us a little piece of the show. I voted for the Branch Roadster because on the first quick scroll down, it really caught my eye - almost too simple and clean to belong in the chrome and mirrors crowd. I was nearly swayed by the #9 car .... caught its Daimler motor in a heartbeat; I had an SP250 years ago so had a hard time saying no to that one...
The #8 car brought back a powerful deja vu of an AMT model I built in the late 50's early 60s.

The Hamb award is a great idea, no more bitching for the traditionalist. Theres some real quality hamb worthy cars there. But i went with No.5, only because it jumped out at me fom the little thumb nail pictures.
