Hey I've got a feeling that my option of a budget bench seat from a minivan is going to be a wee short. Hey can you guys tell me the width your bench seat lengthwise.

I sat in a buddy late ninetys chrysler the 2nd row bench seat is 41 in in length. I sat in it and it seems that the passenger would be a bit close. like no space in between. I want some distance between us. His rear van seat is a bit longer. Its 45 inches . I beleive it will fit in my chevy in the front but the sides the seats will be kissing the inside sheet metal of the doors.

Short i got for a big seat. What is the size of you bench seats??

47" I think. I'm using a split bench from a 71' Chevelle. I believe my factory seat was the same width. 49 Ford.

I'm using a mid seat out of a caravan in my A coupe. It measures 41". Yes, it puts the passenger close. And yes, when the doors are closed they do touch the edge of the seat.

Dan should i choose a longer seat so that when the doors are closed they do touch the edge of the seat? With your back against the seat how far from your chest is the edge of the steering wheel? How about from the A pillar to the first part of the benchseat? All new too this

Mink, Seems to me , no matter the seat width, the only thing that dictates passenger
closesness is the distance between the doors. Most seats will squish a bit with out a problem. Measure the distance between doors and find a seat close to that.

My seat is non adjustable, bolted directly to the floor. I just sat it where I had the most leg room. I really don't think your gonna get a wider seat in your car if your building a Model A.

My model A coupe has a third seat out of a 67 belvadere(if thats how you spell it) wagon its right around the same width but I used it because the lack of padding was needed for extra head room

  11. There is a minivan seat that is around 38" wide. It's from the middle row from a late 80's or early 90's.

Thanks guys, the i test fit is of a length of 41" sits hight too butt that can be fixed. I'll try to snap some pictures.

The distance from drive door skin to passenger door skin is 47 at its minimum(happens to be right at the rear pillar where the latch catch is on).

The 3rd row seat that is in the same van as the 31 inch, has a length of 17" .
Im think about getting this but not sure if i should because its so close.

I think a rough estimate of the space between the corner of the benchseat and the corner of the front pillar would best clarify my problems.
Anyways what modifications are done in order to bolt thers van seats in. Do i have to weld on some boltable brackets. They were bolted into the van they were latched in.

    Here's a list I pirated a few years ago...

    JUNKYARD SEAT LIST
    '87-'89 Ford Escort rear seat
    Seat back width = 42"
    Seat bottom width = 42"
    Seat back thickness = 3.5"
    (seat back folds forward)

    '90 Dodge Caravan, middle seat?
    Seat back width = 44.5"
    Seat bottom width = 44.5"
    Seat back thickness = 4.5"

    '80s Isuzu Trooper
    Seat back width = 48"
    Seat bottom width = 48"
    Seat back thickness = 3.5"

    '84 Ford Ranger
    Seat back width = 49"
    Seat bottom width = 49"
    Seat back thickness = 3.5"

    '84 Toyota van middle seat
    Seat back width = 34"
    Seat bottom width = 36"
    Seat back thickness = 4.5"

    '91 Ford Festiva
    Seat back width = 38"
Seat bottom width = 48" (odd shape is fitted to wheel wells)
    Seat back thickness = 3.5"

    '89 Ford Aerostar middle seat
    Seat back width = 39"
Seat bottom width = 46" (odd shape)
    Seat back thickness = 4.5"
'91 Chevy S10 pickup bench seat
    Seat back width = 48"
    Seat back width = 5.5"
    Seat bottom width = 49.75"
    Seat bottom thickness = 6"
The seat would bolt to a flat floor, with the frame the bottom cushon at highest
point looks to be 9.5" high. Bottom cushon has two holes for seatbelts to pass thru
OK - Wrangler stuff (pretty small - maybe good for Model A)
    Seat Back Width - 32.5"
Seat Back Height - 15.5" (from hinge)
    Seat Back Thickness - 5"
    Seat Bottom Width - 33.5"
Seat Bottom Thickness - 5" (at bolster)
Seat Bottom Depth - 15.5" (front to back)

one that mounts to the floor in a channeled 26-27 T ....90's Isuzu Amigo back seat.
    SEAT BACK 39"x21"x3"
    SEAT BOTTOM 39"x20.5"x8"
Seat folds forward and the "folded seat" folds forward again!

85-6 Dodge Colt Vista van rear (3rd) seat.
    38 inches wide-21 inches deep.
    integral retractable belts (center)
    earlier ones don't have headrests
    thin cushions and backrests
I used modified 80's Chev PU seat tracks on this one
splitback reclines and folds on cushion

Another seat that may fit well for a back (or maybe front) seat is a rear seat from a Geo Tracker... Not too thick, flips and folds and is narrow...

    Hope this helps...

I mounted the 3rd row out of a 86 Chrysler mini van. The seat is mounted just behind the door jamb on my 29 ford tudor sedan. It works for me. I have found that the older square style mini-van seats are better. Good luck.
