I'm doing this truck for a buddy. He wants to have a realy radical truck, so we are going to chop it 7", and section either 5" or 6". It will sit 3.5" off the ground. It will have a flathead with 2 strombergs, wire wheels, a quickchange, and out the cowl steering.

I will build the frame under the car so that the floor will remain stock, but it definatly will be tight.

The last picture is a rendering of what the cab will look like.

I used two cabs because the orange cab had good doors and a good roof, and the brown cab had a good base of the car but a bad roof.

It was a little tricky choping two cabs and making sure they were not only choped the same but in the same areas.

    Holy crap, I LOVE it!!

I'm so tired of most bobber jobs, but this'll be cool, especially based on your craftsmanship that you've shown us already.

If you haven't started yet, I'd suggest laying the WS back a bit, maybe not as much as the Pierson Bros., but that sort vibe.....

We talked about doing that, but he likes the angle of the posts already so we plan on keeping it the same.

Its probably hard to see in the previous pictures but the roof had a lot of dents. So while the roof was off I got the dents worked out.

I also got the roof insert pre-trimmed. Once the chop is finished I will spilce in the stock opening from the 36' 3 window top. That way the roof will be open and appear like it has a stock fabric roof insert. Hopefully that will help the inside feel less cramped.

This morning I worked on geting the front posts welded up. It was realy tricky geting everything to lign up with how much it was choped. I'll have to do some lead work to get it perfect where the origional factory seam is realy rough. But it was leaded origionaly in this area anyway.

    Excellent...the proportions are perfect.

Do me a favor...just for my education. Take a measurement, inside to inside, of the windshield opening, and outside to outside of the cab (roughly) at the hood flange, just where the front, upper corners of the cab are still vertical (at the "bottom" of the hood flange "roll")?

    Thanks.

Man, Chris, I was super-excited when I saw that project in your shop last Saturday. The Chop is wicked! Makes me want to do something similar with my down-the-road '37 pickup project. I won't have mine sectioned, however, like your customer wants. It looks badass enough with just the chop--- I mean, it really does! Excellent work as always.
