You can bet on it. It took a life time to find
it, and its gonna pound the 1320 again as well as be street driven. This is gonna be my friday car to drive to work (35 each way miles in So Cal. traffic). I'll post more pics when the interior sheet metal etc. is done.

I got a call from one of my nephews the other night on my way home from work. "Hey my brother is moving and he has an old boat he's trying to sell with no luck. He's decided to part it out and I thought you might be interested in the engine. Oh, what engine's in it? Its a 409. How much does he want for it? 500 bucks. Yep, I'll take it." Last night we got together to do the deal and as I walk up to it in the dark, I say, thats not
a 409. Sure it is, look right hear it says 409 right on the cylinder head. No!
thats part of the casting #. The engine is a 455 Olds. If you look theres a
big ole F cast into the block just in front of the intake. Whats the F mean?
It means you F@#K'd cause I'm buying it.

It was a bit of a let down, but pretty funny really. Ric.

PS. Going next week to check the progress on the '56 (new tubs etc.)
I'll get some update photos.

I've got some new photos of the tubs etc. but can't seem to get them down loaded. I'll keep trying. Ordered the new Dana 60 last week, and will get new clutch disc and throw out bearing this week. Any one come up with any pics of our car back in the day. I keep checking drag cars in motion etc. I did find one of it in the back round of a "in the pits" photo of a front engine digger at Bakersfield, but its too small to realy enjoy. Just about done modifying the tunnel ram for use with the Q-jets and then we can dyno the engine.

Though the roadster and the Willys have received
beatiful restorations neither has the prerequisite safety

racing days!

that was a low 12 sec/115+ mph car. One night (Mopar)night to be exact at the Toluca Lake Bobs they
pulled in and backed the '56 into a row of Mopars. Jones
hated Road Runners cause anyone could afford one and
everyone said theirs was the baddest. This '56 had a
"Beep Beep yer ass" sticker on each wing window. Anyway before too long he gets noticed and challenged, so he tells them don't waste my time with the wannabe's just get your baddest which turns out to be a Hemi Road Runner. Well the mopar has hard biased plys and the 56 in on 7" cheaters and beats the road runner 3 outa 3. Weeks later the mopar group brings a
"B023" Hemi Cuda and puts a couple of lengths on the '56. Fast forward, I'm talking Richard Ruth about our car and he says, when he was approached about the TLBT movie his inspiration for the car is the '56 gasser,
however the movie guys see a 55 he's working on and
decide on that body instead. Then to give them more
inspiration he takes them for a ride in Jones street '56.
Then Ruth asks if I've ever heard the Road Runner story, so I say yes and share. We'll he says you never
heard the ending! When they finished the TLBT car, the
one with the "real engine" he and Jones go looking for
the Hemi Cuda, find it, and "stomp the silly putty out of
it".
that is the coolest story ever

i think you should restore your dads car the way is was back then. (the paint)

It will definetly get repainted the way it was. The only difference is the lettering will say Panneton Bros, or Panneton & Sons, or possibly Panneton
Family Flyer (PF Flyer, remember the old sneekers), on the doors and maybe "Yesterdays Child" on the quarters or deck lid.

I really dig your "old meets new 56", I've been trying to get my brother to do something similar to his 55 with the truck/escalde "tunnel ram'' and have the car look like a Modified Production car on the outside since its pretty close already.

ID:	1041966The headers have to be slightly modified (lengthened downward so they clear the rear "hair pin" mount) and then they'll get aluma-coated white.
