Great thread. I love all the Chevies through these years.
I know these aren't great photos, but the first two are shots of my first-ever car. These were taken in Springfield, Mo sometime around '67. Sold this rust-free beauty for $300! The second pair is a car I first saw at the HAMB drags (#3 maybe) when it was up for sale - then again the next year. Talked to the new owner. I believe he paid something like $12K for the car. Definately well worth it! This is what I would have hoped for my car to evolve into had I kept it. I love everything about this ride - including the inline six that's still in it. |

Dude, that is amazing. I can see the doors, but can't even figure out what other parts you've used. That car deserves a "how I did it" tech thread of its own.
What did you use for the frame? Any Chevy parts, or all from scratch? Any in progress photos?

BDiamond, you may want to do some clearancing around those rub marks on your bags before you hear the big KABOOM.

Hey BDiamond, what bags did you use just specific height and width? Do you run a compressor?

Thanks for the pics. I understand how you did it. My only concern (and I can't tell from the pictures) Do the boxes you made for the lower arms hang below the scrub line? Thanks, Todd

74 nova sub-frame, ( I slid the nova sub inside the 51 frame, the nova crossmember included.) rear, drive-line (350/350), column, brake pedal assembly and column hanger was cut and fit, reworked wire loom, spliced in radiator core support with radiator. I set up the subframe 1-1/2 inches shorter to center the wheel in the opening. It really turned out nice. Sold it in '99 with original apple green finish. Other guy painted it Black with flames and put a street blower on it. More to follow.

Eddiesixem -> finally another four door, looks good!
this is the same way I did my front as previously posted and works good.. the drop spindles give another 2 - 2 1/2" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=152076 I was told by a friend that an S10 front end "may" work as well instead of Mustang II, dunno how true that is. For the four door I should put on the trunk lid "A few extra inches never hurt....."

Geez - I'd like to see more of this Moonglow Clone. The first thing I noticed is it even has the same license number as Duane steck's original although the hoods over the headlights are missing that were on the last iteration in the same blue color.

The owners name is Graham Tate, he live's in North Vancouver, B.C. He spent 11 years (I think) and a lot of money building it, just finished last year. He will probably be at the Ocean Park show on Saturday.

Mine. I've done a few mods to it since these pictures, added the hood ornaments and the grill guard as well as changing the hood ornament. It's my first car and I love it. |

Her's my '50.
I rode in it as a youngster with the original owner a friend of my family's. I fixed it for him in the 60's and his widow sold it to me in 1975. It's more than my car - it's part of the family. ![]() ![]()

ya thanks, i bought it from out in front of a junk yard. it's got a '54 235 and three speed column shift. fellow HAMBer oshkoshrob said he's always wanted to chop a '51 chev so we may just do that. right away we're talking about pancaking hoods and trunks and lowering too. we'll see.

Here's my '54 I got this summer. I've got lots of changes planned for when winter comes in the Great White North. It drives too well to take apart before then!

Boy, some awsome cars here!!
This thread has motivated me to respond with a couple of my own pics (my first attempt at posting, so please be patient with me if I screw this up!). My first car: '54 Pontiac (Canadian) 4dr with some mild de-chroming (late '60's). The second: A '52 coupe customized by a previous owner when nearly new, and sporting two of the many paint schemes I used in the twelve years I owned it. The current: I missed the coupe so much after selling it that I bought this fleetline to fill the void. I've done very mild "dress-ups" such as cut coils and lowering blocks, dual exhaust, Smithys, Vette hubcaps, spots, visor and skirts in order to save $$ for my other project and still set the car apart from stock. |

Here's Mildred, my 1950 chevy. Bought it in WV and drove it back to Calif on 2 lane roads. It was a great trip. Had to rebuild the 3 speed, popped out of 3rd gear a lot. Great car !!

Not a Chevy but a 1950 Pontiac. Soon to be sprayed with a flake roof and dumped more on wide whites.

This is one of my all time favorite customs!
What is the story behind the build on this car? Who built it? What is the story of the splash pan between the rear bumper and the trunk? Are the rear fenders the stock for '49?

Some New pictures of mine. I'm nearly there at last. I now have all of the chrome back on and just have to fit the glass in the front doors. This weekend I'll be underneath it working on a 4 bar rear end for it.

I told my wife to look at this car, I said he sold it, she said find out where it is she really likes the color. That is a nice car. I have a 150 2 dr.sedan from many years ago tore it apart to put a mustang ll front end, and late model drive train in it but it's still waiting. The old building looks good also. |

Just traded for this 54 One-Fifty yesterday. Today I played with it a bit and the engine fired right over after 10 years of silence.
I do need a passenger rear fender. If someone has a source let me know.

The tires that are on there are small, but I have the same setup on my '53 wagon with bigger tires on the stock wheels. I'll check both cars this weekend as they are both in the shop at my parents' house.

Lots of incredible cars here - can't get enough of 'em!
Say rowjoe, can you tell me about the skirts on your coupe (if it's not a guarded secret)? The stockers look too short for the opening, and yours are exactly what I'm looking for to fill the hole. |

Those look like the stockers to me. What we did with mine is found a set of skirts with flares at a swap meet and grafted the bottom section on the stockers, that added about 2 inches to the bottom and gave a nice flare. ![]() BTW This pic was taken at Starbirds shop, that's Darryl standing in the garage, the one with the Aloha shirt on. Is this low enuff in back for you guys?? In April, getting ready for new rear and sub-frame, we tore the rear out. 1 hr. later Dad decides to move. Anyway, he has been re-modeling his new shop (in background)...and I decide to build a house (below). Oh well, Dad says we will get them inside this weekend..thats closer to progress. BTW, the S10 is for the sub-frame.

Thanks Bob K! I had been pondering how best to extend the stockers... Looks like it's back to the swap meet for a junk set of flared skirts. One of those "if it's so obvious - why didn't I think of it before?" moments!

Some more pics for this thread.. Wouldn't want to be accused of diversion!
My first car - a '54 Canadian Pontiac (4 door hand-me-down from dad) a fellow named Fabian nosed and decked for me in 1969. I think the hood was a work of art... My next car was a custom very early in its life and I was custodian of it for 12 years. Here are two versions: The flamed version first - then a pic of it with "black cherry metalic" and porta-whites on wide M/Ts!! in the desert on a 4,000 mi. trip to L.A. and back. Great times, great cars! Pardon the high-rider stance, after all it was the '70s! |

This is not mine, but I'm chopping it at this moment for my friend.
I need trim under the windows and all garnish mouldings to inside!

If you're still out there, I need your assistance to photoshop in some color. I'm deciding on a 2 tone paint scheme for my 51. Bottom will be satin black and the top will either be a gold metalflake or regular red or blood red metalflake. The family can't make up its mind, so I thought seeing the car in those colors would be helpful. Also, I have already shaved the side trim and door handles. I left the chrome on the bottom and the gravel guard.Thanks. |

saw this at the Round-Up, after a few months and two trips to Fort Worth, I got it home, and put in the rear floorboards, transmission rebuilt, and in process of putting disc brakes on the front.

we pulled it out of a wrecking yard in montana in 1985, thats me with it then.
I had always planned on one of these 1000 point restorations(still custom though), however now I am thinking that that might be an unatainable goal for me, so now I am thinking of putting it back together, buffing out what is left of the paint and driving it as I slowly fix it up one piece at a time. It was last liscensed in 1967, was shaved ,has 55 chev headlights, 56 chev rear bumper, and 56 packard tailligts( I have a NOS set to put back on it!!) 2 inch lowering blocks in the rear. here is an interior shot with my dad, 1985. dig the custom pleated hearts!: |

We will bump this to the top with some pics of my rust bucket. Thanks to the inside lighting, all flaws have been secretly hidden.
