A few months ago, Steve Coonan and Geoff Miles (both from The Rodder's Journal) got a crazy idea. For no rational reason, they decided to flat tow Geoff's '32 chassis behind Steve's '32 roadster from their home base in NorCal to the Street Rod N...

Coonan joined our Street Rod Club in Maryland when he was 15 or 16. Great to see he still has the mentality of a teenager.

NOTHING ... like having a spare chassis for your Roadster ... along with you for a road trip.
I usually take along a few spares ... but this takes it to the NEXT level

Hats off to them. Looks like it would be one hell of blast to drive that set up accross country.

This rules. Doesn't seem that long ago Casey and I were puling away from your house in Brookside with my rolling chassis in tow and you shaking your head grinning at my tow bar setup.

Steve and I were talking about this at the L.A.R.S. and I told I told him I thought it freakin too cool.We both kinda laughed at the notion and I told him there would be a bunch of naysayers but go for it! Can't wait to talk to him on Wednesday when I get to Louisville and hear the stories of the road.

What am I missing here:
"That determination has not gone untested. Once word of the plan spread, all of Steve and Geoff’s roadtrip buddies bailed and made other arrangements for traveling. And absolutely no one in NorCal was willing to help the two with a tow bar set up. Folks just didn’t want much to do with the idea… at all." Roadtrip buddies bailing on you because you come up with an idea that just my be fun to look back on in your dotage??? I'm thinking they are the type of buddies one really doesn't need. And what the hell was up with no one in Northern Cal being willing to help with a tow bar for the trip. Crap, it really wasn't that long ago when we would use a set of Ford wishbones as a tow bar and then tow all over Hell's half-acre! Has the fear of liability gotten us to this point in our lives? Glad you guys got some help on a problem that really wasn't a problem. Sheeeeeeesh, what a bunch of pussies!!! Anyway, glad Steve and Geoff got this thing on the road and glad to see the naysayers didn't ruin their fun. Go for it, guys! |
