Default Replacing Pinion Seal on 57 chevy rear

I know this isn't rocket science, but is there anything i need to look out for? Tips, tricks?

Figure 13 shows it all i guess.......can this be done without removing the center section of the rear?

It's been awhile since I changed one, but I;m sure that it can be changed while in the car. The only other thing that I remember is that you do not want to install the seal flush with the center housing. Seems like there should be a small gap between the housing and the metal lip around the outside edge of the seal. I think the shop manual has a specific amount, but I don't have my shop manual with me right now.

Mark the pinion flange, pinion, and the nut, count number of threads the nut is on the pinion, remove nut and flange .Replace seal ,install everything back to its same position, tighten nut back to same spot. If you did every ok it should be fine
