Clysdale, that's KILLER!
Buick59, just incredible, post after post! aceuh, great shot! Been swamped, but wanted to participate this week (absent for a bit), so here's a piece I also threw into the Art Challenge (no, really, check it out.) Some great stuff posted there... Mild rework on a '55 Pontiac...

Harry's Air Show
Harry Luzader was from Monroeville, PA and the Deuce coupe that he built was second to none in build and elapsed times. The fit and finish was excellent and he vanquished most all challengers in the late 60s and early 70s with this wheelstanding coupe. It was recently named one of the top 75 Deuces by the Ford Motor Co. Although the car was sold and later pro streeted it currently sets dismantled. Nothing exemplified the Pittsburgh style in rods better than what Harry created! My HAMB Art Challenge entry.

This is a good place to put this. My free hotmail wouldnt connect with Kustom7777, so I couldn't send him some of my quick&dirty pics of his shoebox hes cutting up. I didn't feel like waiting on the mail , so I'm putting them on here. Kinda gets everyone involved. Jim was thinking about 59 Chevrolet tailights, I wasn't so sure, so that usually leads me to drawing it out in case I was missing something. I like the enlongated 54 Chevy tail lights or the Comet tail lights, but it ain't my car. Hey Jim, hope you see this!

Here is a painting done for a fellow HAMBer. They havn't got it yet, but it's done.
This is the start, probably the most time consuming part for me. Anybody have an interest in me showing the progression of this painting? Initial drawing. ![]() BR

I'm posting this for my buddy. He's not on the HAMB. He made this up for our shirts for this years BBQ. He's a great artist, but this is the first time he's ever drawn a car. Not bad for a beginner.

I was one of the lucky guys to get a Jalopy Journal log book a couple weeks ago and I don't have anything to "log" really I've been defiling it with random doodles and stuff. I thought I'd post what I do each week while I should be doing something else ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Here's one I did a couple months ago. Background was done to look like Turquoise stone and looks more real in life then it does in these pictures. The whole job was done with 1-Shot. Who says you cant clear 1-Shot without it lifting??.

OK then.
Part 2 I paint white over everything except the lines. Some places I do pretty thick and textural. Then I did a wash of red over the whole thing. The red wash then settles into the cracks and texture of the white. Threw in a wash of brown too. Then went with white again on areas that will have highlights later on in the end. Still a long way to go. The painting is 20"X24". ![]() Next comes a complimentary color to the red tones. I add the same color to various shadowed areas in the painting. This blue later will peek out in areas that will get covered with even darker colors later on. I always come back and continue to add highlights to keep my bearings on the look. It enables me to judge what stays and what goes. Sometimes in the end what was painted earlier gets completely covered in time. ![]() BR

Great start of the art show fellas; I feel a five-star thread-rating coming up...
This sketch is the start of a T-shirt design for a fellow HAMB'er; will post the finished piece further down the road.

Great stuff everyone as always. Haven't posted in sometime, but I've been watching. Been super swamped since the beginning of the year doing stuff I can't post yet. Here's some old stuff that I did while at Hot Wheels. The Felt bike is out now so I can show it. They messed it up though so it's not as cool as the concepts. The other stuff was art for kids shirts. These were modular so they could be combined and broken apart to create numerous designs from two originals. I just finished my piece for the California Screamin' show and the new Dice poster. I'll post them asap. Also been working full time over at West Coast designing vintage graphics with Chris Martin. (He did the HAMB stuff recently).
Enjoy! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks like the beginning of a great Art show, as usual!
Here's a few pics of Del Swanson's work I took at a Pinstripe Legends workshop last December. I've had the privilage and honor to be able to hang around Del a few times a year. He's a very kool guy and a incredible talent. What a asset to the board. Indocil: Amazing paint work! Jeff: These are the wood panels by Del I was telling ya about.... Enjoy! Joel ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These are amazingly simple small wood panels done with 1Shot. When your actually looking at them. They are very powerfull images.... |

Here's my entry from the latest Art Challenge. There is some fantastic talents in this post....I really admire you folks that do such compelling graphic designs... Have a great weekend!!!-W.S.
Welcome to Pasadena style....circa 1940...My entry is not so much a regional style, but a 'What If' style...What if the car-loving son of a successful Pasadena, California Ford dealer decided to build a custom based upon the influences of the coachbuilt cars that surrounded the Pasadena area in the 1920's-30's, and what if he talked his Pops into helping out with the detail$ as a promotional piece for the dealership?...It might look something like this, The Pasadena Rose...I hope you like it, I sure had fun working on it! All the best-W.S

I'll post the final tomorrow. The colors are much brighter than what it shows here.
There is lots of finer details done at this step that just don't show. Next step. ![]() BR

Great show all! Been a while since I've visited or contributed to the show. Here's a recent door lettering job, and a panel.

I know I know, the artwork isn't an original idea of mine. But I had to put something on a shopping bag so it wasn't so plain when I go shopping.

Great stuff everbody! I can only take part of the credit for this because its in the garage but my Mom actually took the picture. She runs around the garage quite a bit with the camera on the weekends when she comes down to see my girls. Wish I had photoshop-I think it would have a great effect changed to b&w...

Awesome again Ed! Are those letters built-up with smaller stitches underneath the uppermost stitches? How does the embroidery machine 'know' when to do that?

Here is one I took last summer at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Edsel in Dearborn. I've had this printed on canvas and stretched to hang on my living room wall. I also made some edsel inspired sconces to with it (second pic) using the old exhaust valves from my 58.

there's plenty more in the art archives, along with other really great stuff from all the artists.. if you're somewhat new I'd suggest you spend some time there, it's incredible what's been collected.
