Default OT_ help me identify this antique bus

I found this today while looking at some other stuff. Looks like an old city bus and it's kind of a trolley style thing. Flat in the front like an old Helms Bakery van or something. Aluminum skin. I'm thinking late 40's. Any guesses?

Reminds me of this:

Note the similarities in the headlights, and the grille cover shape. Aluminum skin, too.

Unfortunately I don't really know what the hell this is either, it's supposedly a factory conversion early camper, on what we think is a '30's Chrysler frame. The last owner put a drawbar on it so it could be towed around to use to camp in, and it has a shitty pine paneling interior in it.

I think I'll try to buy it and get me a bus driver hat. Then I'll be like Ralph Cramden. One of these days Alice!!!

If I buy it, I'm going to drive it to the Hamb drags and see what it will do on the strip. (or not)

I was just picturing that thing running at MO-KAN. How cool would that be. Gut it, HAMB rail in the back on the drive down, unload, and two runs for the price of one. Dig that corner window treatment too.

I think what you have here is a 1927-1949 Fageol Bus, they used the same body style. Fageol from Kent, Ohio made trucks and buses. It seems like the small truck division was bought by Divco, and the large trucks were bought by Sterling. They continued to build buses at least into the seventies maybe longer. The trucks of the fifties were very cool, combing the drivers compartment and engine right into a Fruehof trailer body.

Under the driver's window to the left of the driver's seat looks to be the builder's plate. Should have Manufacturer and model info on it.

Twin Coach entered in a stock purchase arrangement with Divco, as Divco could not compete with the Twin Coach patented stand-drive. Twin Coach then owned a large but not controlling portion of Divco

Thanks
