photoshoppers: i need your help to visualize something on my shoebox PLEASE

after tacking the studebaker fins to the shoebox, i am beginning to think the cars lines may be improved with a mild chop...originally i had not planned to chop the car,,,but the more i look at it (and the more hambers recommend a chop), the more i am realizing that with the fins, a chop may be just the ticket,,,,,,if anyone has the time, could you do a MILD chop on the car?....maybe 2" front, 3 1/2" or so in the rear, or whatever you think would look good,,,,i want to lean the rear window rather than add a panel between the rear window and decklid..

also considering hardtopping it in addition to chopping it,,,,i may have a line on some convertible side glass & frames....

maybe hirohata/matranga style frames would also look good,,,,,??

i actually have photoshop now, but am just learning the basics,,i dont know nearly enough to do this type of work yet,,,but you can bet that when i do, ill be doing tons of it for hambers,,,

Here's a quick one I did for you. I laid the rear panel down, but I didn't lay the windshield posts back. I wasn't sure how you wanted to approach that. I saved it as a gif file, and if all goes well it will be animated so you can watch the before and after in the same picture. I will gladly send you the full-sized file if you would like. Shoeboxes always look like they need a haircut to me. Hardtopping it would go well with the late '50s approach, too.

I vote for the chop as well. I really like the fins, you're right, they really help to sharpen the cars lines. My $.02

I used the same on my Stude with Hawk fins. You may want to consider that for yours.

IMO, the hardtop thing is getting a bit overdone on shoeboxes. I havnt seen one yet that really looks right. To make it really look right, like it came from the factory, you'd have to scratch build or modify from other cars, a lot of stainless trim to go around the window openings. All of the hardtop'd shoeboxes you see without that trim look pretty half ass, IMO.

 

saw this thread yesterday,, its just such a kool kustom. ,i'll see what i can do later at home, this is the Koolest build I've seen in a while, striaght up original kool, the mild chop and hardtop would look KILLER!, long live the bat! awesome work man!

Ditto. Other than a chopped Vicky, I haven't seen one that looks really right. However, the convert pieces may help that cause out greatly. You're call Jim, you know how hard a coupe is to pull off.

Were the Stude fins a late addition? I've been outta the loop.

i keep going back and forth myself....i brought the car outside today for a full profile shot,,,,,it looks awfully good to me as is,,,BUT on the other hand, a mild chop would improve the flow as bit,,,strongly considering hardtopping it with matranga/hirohata style curved window frames.....DEFINITELY don't want to overchop it though....still on the fence,,but leaning towards mild chop/hardtop....

i think the chop would throw the fins out of proportion.. imho..
