The main reason I like the idea has nothing to do with the trophy, but rather acknowledging stellar roadsters (and builders) whose intention was never to win the AMBR. Just building a car to the best of their ability with a budget big or small. Maybe.........just maybe, the two winners will one day coincide.

Personally, I'd love for the award to be anonymous, just to appear one day with a letter of thanks and an atta boy.

That's a grand idea with a lot of class. The HAMB award shouldn't ever be confused with any type of off the wall hype and glitter shit, which is what the current AMBR trophy seems to be about. Just an honest, sincere award to a well deserving winner. The values of the HAMB and the true hot rodding spirit will carry a ton of weight if this award is handed out properly.

Smart... Honestly, I don't plan on titling the trophy at all - either with TJJ/HAMB or with an award title.

You must understand that this will probably not get the GNRS officiators from getting their heads out of their asses, if anything it will go further up that stinky orifice.
I like the idea, but as far recent history goes, the right car won the AMR trophy.....nothing shocking there.

I'm in with this idea from Church. We need to recognize one of our own, but maybe quietly do it as a way of saying "40,000 traditional hot rodders have recognized you with this award for craftsmanship, tradition, being grand, etc etc etc"

I'm thinking a nickle plated HAMB dash plaque with black etching and the year stamped on it.

I agree. Keep it low key - just have the award "show up" next to the winning car on Sunday morning. Might not get much attention the first year, but word will spread fast!

It may be corny, but when the Pharoahs invited a new member in, the first order on business was a club jacket. (see my earlier post)

Ryan I think you have a good idea.

When I took my roadster for AMBR last year, I could really care less about being in competition. The awards don't matter at the end of the day i was happy to walk away with Chips design pick. Build the car you want, you get to take it home and enjoy it they won't make you leave it there. The compliements from the people I respect and look up to were my award.

I think if you did it would add a little weight to it. The intention is for "this" group to vote on our interpretation of what the most beautiful roadster is as opposed to the official judges unless I'm missing something. Once the onsite judges submit a series of cars for us to look at I take it.

Not sure what you should call it but I think you should consider using TJJ in the title. A lot of us will vote for a winner. It should be a very nice looking award and I agree with some other folks about it. It will become a coveted award.

Stop underselling. Granted the HAMB may not be as important in the car world as we'd like to think...but I tend to think people listen when they can tune in through all the noise.
