    Hey y'all,

I am looking for any pictures of a front engine dragster with a t-bucket body sitting over the rear axle - not in front of it like a lakes modified or a T-altered. The rear axle sits under the body. Your knees go over it like in a F.E.D. I haven't seen but these four. There has to more.

I'm building one and could use some ideas and inspiration.

    Thanks!

  4. There were several featured in HotRod in the late 60s, street cars that emulated the competition class dragsters.

Modified Roadsters- NHRA had classes for this type racer cars. They were called modified roadsters. The class designation went away in 1963 or 1964 when NHRA combined them with the competition coupes. Do a search for the Tenn. Boll Weevil. That was one of the better known cars.

    That's cool. That's very cool.

It's a dragster and a t-bucket, but it lacks the rear axle under the driver's knees.

    Very cool, though!

Is this what you were talking about? It's a front engine dragster and your knees go over the rear axle, but it doesn't have a t-bucket body.

Is this going to be a "Modified Roadster" race car, or a 2-seat street rod?

There was someone building high-dollar SOHC Ford powered street rods this way in the late '60s. One was on the cover of a national magazine.

Yes, like this. Thanks. Keep 'em coming!

Do you have any information on this car? Builder? More pictures? Plans to build the chassis? (Just kidding on that last one, well , unless you have them.) :)

It's going to be a 2-seat street rod. I want it to look as much like a front engine dragster as possible. That's why I'm looking for the pictures.

I'll probably wind up building a fuller chassis style front end and glue a T-bucket chassis and body to the back.

I'm pretty sure the white T is the Jess Van Deventer car from the late 60's. I think he's from Oklahoma or Texas.

Here is the magazine I remembered. It was Car Craft March 1968. This car was featured, and could be bought turn-key with the exotic 427 Ford single overhead cam Hemi. (SOHC)

There are several issues on Ebay. It might help to decide how you would build yours.

This used to be a Fiat Altered in the late 60's, but someone converted it to a T-bucket in the 90's

There was one for sale about 5 months ago in either hemmings,or on craigs list. It had a big block Mopar in it. Maybe you can get a look at it.

Many similarities to the magazine car. Too many to be a coincidence.

  24. I was about to say, "Hey, I know a guy up in Canada who owns this car!" and then I realized that it was you! You should post a pic of your Fiat...and a link to ONDR. :)

Great stuff! I didn't think of searching for, "street dragster." I'll see what else I can dig up now.

  29. This car was driven on the streets of Wisconsin for many years.

The guy would drive around with a leather flight helmet and aviator goggles... it was a riot to see as well as hear...!

I'd like to find out what has happened to this car... anyone know???????????????
