These are some pictures out of a Book called, "The Rim Riders"
An excellent book with HUNDREDS of pictures.

I highly recomend the "Jungle park reunion" Its one of those places that makes the hair on the back of you neck stand up the first time you see the grandstands.. Still to this day.

Jungle park was such an unusual track. It wasn't level! The front stretch ran DOWN HILL which created great speed and danger.

When you crashed at Jungle park you were lucky if you stayed on the track. If you ran off turn one you literally "Ramped" into a thick forest. This guy was "lucky" as they ask him the old "Do you know where your at.. whats your name.. what day is it"

In the early days of sprint car racing... actually getting paid was a big event. Check out these drivers Wads of money.

Here are some hard rides.. non of them fatal.

CHECK OUT THIS GUYS ARM!!!

Richcraft mike and I went to Winchester a year ago to a USAC race. Its another track that you "feel" the history in the air.

Speaking of Richcraft mike... Here he is in an early sprinter

Some good color shots.

STOP AND LOOK AT THIS!!! What wall, what lights, What the...

All you Hot rodders have heard of "The Joie Chitwood Thrill Show" Well... Joey was a sprintcar racer. And he is a distant relative of mine.

And ofcoarse one more of TED HORN. Here Ted is on a MILE and at full tilt... That sucker running behind him is getting a face full!

Hell yeah.. That book talks a lot about him, and how they wore those SILK GOLD SHIRTS when they drove. They designed them themselves. Pretty cool. Pimp shit...

For you HAMBERS that don't know.. Racer5c had the shittiest HIGH SCHOOL job ever!! He worked at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum... Yeah,, That must have SUCKED!!

A side note to that.. How many of you know that the Museum has a BASEMENT with way more cars in it!!! Theres no basement in the Alamo... Ha ha.

Josh,

This picture I posted earlier from the museum in PA has a Ranger powered car in the back ground. I looked but I do not have any good shots of it.

Here it is,

Is that the original engine from the car?

Just in case I will give you a hint, Johnnie Parsons 1950 winning Indianapolis car had the same thing that I am talking about on this sprint car, Josh do you know who that is being pushed off? or the name of the car?
