Some of you might enjoy this article from the very early days of hot rodding. It is from the Feburary 1947 issue or Mechanics Illustrated.

Isn't this the guy that had Von Dutch put flames on his 300SL gullwing? Also, the guy with the '40 Ford coupe with filled quarter windows - owned since new, and still has it? I'm thinking it is, but...

Dead right,in Fact Earl Bruce owned 3 different Gull wings over the years.

O/T My neighbour has 3 in his shop at the moment, Genuine 1 million dollar cars, one is a daily driver which some idiot drove into the back of last month bending the chassis....

no it eventually became the Art Chrisman 25 car, I am gathering parts for a replics, anyone have a 1923 Franklin Right Front Spindle they don't need?

Thanx for sharing Kev...interesting to notes he was raggin on street racers and they were contemplating making it a rule to run juice brakes for all club members.

I wonder what "other safety devices" they woulda had them fit? Seat belts? Fire extiguishers?
