Yes the bumpers will be thrown away and replaced , i have some eary bug euro blades in the shop that will look a little better or like ya said a pair of nerf bars . Anybody got some nerf bars for a bug hanging on the wall???
The rear push bar is a piece of work for sure , i will get some more detailed shots when we start on the car. Got a couple projects to finish before we park it i a spot.

Jim...get oughta that back seat. You know your wife ain't gonna go for that!!!!:D:D It does kinda look like something you and Ron would put together...gonna be cool. Now you need one of Tom's straight axle set-ups for the front end. Too bad I work nights or I would be over to check it out. I feel a sick day coming on real bad!!!:D

Cool thread, I'll have to keep an eye on it! I have a '70 bug project that's going to get a 390 out of a '63 Merc, looking for a 4 speed to go in it. Hopefully mine will have a little Plowboy influence ,be it bad or good, as I get some tips and or advice from him.

  17. We'll be there tonight for engine teardown. :)

  18. Yo Bubba,

We have a pile of this and that at the SPEEDWAGEN shop.
So if you need anything holler!
I need an excuse to get to the west side.

Bubba, I grabbed this article from a post by a Scott H.
Looks like you can do double duty with the Moon's off of the Bonneville truck.

  20. There was a guy that used to run his metallic Blue V8 bug at Carlsbad up until it closed. He had a 454 and chopped up frame from a Chevelle. It would go 10's and he could drive to and from the track back and forth to the Orange Curtain. It had big old slicks on it with Cragars. I think the car was built back in the 70's

It sucks that I missed this today but I'll be back to Indy on Friday night. I did get most of the interior cleaned up and got the dash mostly painted. I also got that ugly ass bumper off, got the lights out, and cleaned up the rear wheels quite a bit.

  23. I had similar plans for my oval window but I think I'm gonna sell it off to help fund my 34 ford coupe build...

[IMG]Had a crowd of dudes at the wed night follies tonight and we actually got a ton of work done on the donor engine.
Ripped her apart and its a winner i believe! The engine had a fresh double roller chain in it, the crank is a .010 and the pistons have NO carbon on them. We will replace the cam but is appears to be a new one as well. Veryt little wear at all .
The mains showed some wear in spots ( due i believe to a mis fit not actual wear) and i will have it degreased, checked and polished.
Its off to the machine shop for a dip and clean and then a report as we put it back together . Scoob get the car ready for us, Feb will be here soon.

Now to clean up the mess we have made !!:):):)
