This is the photo I was looking for, taken at the Hot Wheels Hall of Fame ceremony at the Peterson in the Fall of 2003. I asked Wally and Alex to sign my then-new copy of The Birth of Hot Rodding, Don Cox. They were both there with there wives and we talked for quite a while- They could tell I was truly excited to meet them both, and actually understood the significance and history of what they had done for the hobby/ sport we all love so much.
Oh, yeah.. Chip Foose jumped in the picture too! God Speed Wally!

I wondered why that name sounded familiar... all those early Hot Rod magazines I read when I was a kid (albeit on microfilm at the library)!
I can't believe he's gone!!! |

Every time I think of quitting the mag biz, I think of guys like Wally and I just can't do it. He is an inspiration that will live on in many others. God's speed Wally.

Its bringing it home to me. I,ve known Wally Parks name from the first time I picked up a HOT ROD mag, at the corner drugstore in Buena Park Ca. [1949]. I was 10 years old and hooked forever. You will be missed, but not forgotten, Wally

Anybody know where we can get the Wally Parks stickers that were on the race cars this weekend?

RIP. I've heard nothing but great things about this man anytime he's mentioned.

When I heard about this yesterday, my heart fell from my chest. Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting this great man,(as many of you have), I still feel a great loss. Thanks for all you have done for us Wally, R.I.P.

As someone who has the good fortune of working as a motoring journalist, I should probably thank Wally Parks from the bottom of my heart.
So THANK YOU Mr. Parks. You will be missed. I'm pretty sure he's not complaining though. As we say down here in Oz: "He had a pretty good innings." ![]() RIP |
