On Thursday, I was up before dawn to take some pictures out at the Salt Flats. Yes, they were flooded but not as bad as the rumors spread. Here are some select shots. The shots of my coupe are for my ego only.......
I bet if you listen real close you can hear the rust forming. Very nice pictures! If you can't tell I'm jelous.
Someday Ill be there...in a chopped Merc, but speed is speed isnt it? And well, the thrill of the moment speaks for itself.
I dont know much about teh salt, but it sure seems like no records will be set with the condition of the salt looking so "heavy."
John.........the roadster is alive. It wasn't quite ready for the 4000 mile round trip. I may be putting it up for sale. You know me....... The salt was wet. Not sure how it compared to previous years but it stuck to your shoes like glue. The guys running the course were slipping and sliding. It reminded me of Toronto in the middle of winter but 95 degrees warmer
a nice roadster. The fit and finish was amazing. It said 'Ardun" on the hood but it looked like a six banger to me.
XXF is an Ardun class. No six cylinder cars allowed. Ford guys hate getting beat, so they got thier own class. That way a ford has to be fastest.
Wet salt is not necessarily a bad thing and it can favor some racers. There were several cars and bikes in impound last night that broke records on the first day. John
36Couper, Thanks for the pics. Your ego pics are inspiration pics for me. The corner of the coupe roof and the B-Ville sign shot is great...
I had at least 3 people ask me if my coupe was for sale. I doubt I could ever replace such a reliable, cool looking car for the money they would offer.
Lots of pictures on www.scta-bni.org and www.landracing.com. Pictures form this year posted daily. plus past years too. Enough to keep you busy for a long time. Cool pictures of your car but youll be sorry you drove it out there
Man, those first set of pictures almost brought a tear to my eye, one day I will make there, hopefully with a car or bike in tow.
I love this shot, made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I've been to B-Ville, but not with my coupe. Some day I will make the drive. All hot rods must make the pilgrimage to B-Ville at least once. It is, after all Hot Rod Mecca. I just hope the salt isn't as sloppy as it was this year when I go..........
