Here are some pics of my current project. I am restoring the dream rod that cushenberry built in 63. It was shown for a few years and then it was changed into the tiger shark. It was later sold, once at a garage sale of all places. I bought it from Dennis Pallen in milwaukee. I am done welding on the body, there were more mods to reverse than I originally thought, the back of the car was made 4 inches longer and shaped all wrong, the roof scoops were hammered shut and welded, the grille opening was change along with the rear window and rocker panels etc.... not to mention the jowett jupiter chassis was missing (found one) was wondering if anyone has any good color photos other than the published ones? especially under the hood and interior. the pic of it outside is as I recieved it. Thanks, Mark
Never knew this car was in my backyard, but then Milwaukee is a pretty big back yard. Good luck with the resto. Looking good so far.
A friend of mine owned that car here in Detroit 20 years ago or so, he always wanted it back. He tracked it down a few years ago but couldn't afford what the then owner wanted for it, so he is building a modern clone. Anyway he may have some pics I will see him this weekend and have him check out this post. It looks great and I'm glad to see it going back to it's original configuration. Nice work man.
I have always been a big fan of Cushenbery and I think he was one of the most creative technicians ever. Look forward to more posts about this car. I think it was specifically built for Promotions Inc.
Don't know when this was taken but it is an old postcard I found. On the back it states built in '61 by Cushenbery, interior by Manger, hood and front fenders '60 Pontiac, and rear fenders from '60 Corvair. Cheers
Looks great Mark..... Is it/was it a '59-1960 Pontiac as a starting point? can I become your groupie....?
So do any of the cars get driven to the Minnetonka drive-in on Thursdays?? It would be worth a trip out there to see the stuff in person if it does!
The doors and front fenders are 60 pontiac, the tops of the rear quarters are corvair, the roof and windshield are studebaker, the rear window is from a borgward.
