With all of the recent discussion about mock-ups and first drives, I figured it was a good time to post some pictures of our first drive in the family mordoor. The groundwork for this project began when my wife and I had our first child (he turned two last month) in April of 2005. My Dad and I had nearly completed his 'glass coupe project, but reality dictated that it was time to build something that would be more practical, yet cool, so the 3-window became a 7-window.

Although the car is currently licensed and legal to drive, we are by no means finished with our vision for it. Future plans call for a full interior, shiny paint, hood sides, and possibly even a slight trim off the top. While some folks may not agree with the big-block Cadillac and radial tires, we feel they fit squarely in the time period we are aiming for, a late 60's/early 70's hot rod sedan. Think of it as the Eastwood/Barakat sedan on steroids. Anyways, a big thank you to my Dad, Joe, and thanks to y'all for letting me ramble on like an excited schoolgirl!

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for the kudos on the progress pics.

Bob, the engine is a 500 c.i., which is approx. 8.2 liters. I believe the 472 started in 1968, and the 500 was produced from 1970-1976. The goal right now is to bang out some dents and get it into primer, so we have not yet picked a final color.

Very nice ! You nailed the stance; it's perfect. What is the wheel/tire combo ???

  24. I'd take a steel Fordor over a 'glass 3wd anyday.

The car looks great. I love it. Glad to see you finally got it on the road.

Your car looks great. I like the stance. It will make or break a car. Tell us more about it. What kind of wheels? What are the wheel and tire sizes?

  27. You sir have a good eye. You nailed it. I love the engine choice, different without being wierd, hope you have oil company stock though;) .

Let me guess, you guys must need somebody to haul all of the luggage for the roadster and coupe owning members of the club..... :)
