Ok, this is the hot-off-the-press triples adaptor to let you run 3 or 4 bolt carbs on those worth nothing SBF injection manifold bottoms. Not entirely period perfect, but very economical! Apart from running the carbs, I'm sure the smart among you could rig up port injection and use the carbs as throttle bodies as well. Pm me if you're interested, a casting run will be done soon so numbers will be needed. This won't be something you can get just anywhere.
You guys down under do some neat stuff. I love that "adapter". Any idea on a cost for one of them. I just happen to have a few of those lowers laying around I could put one to use this way.
Very cool. What EFI lower intake does it use? The round port (like 5.0 Mustangs use) or the rectangle truck intake? Look sliek regtangle ports in the one picture. EFI truck intakes are supposed to be better flowing intakes. Early on the hot intake for a 5.0 Mustang was the rectangle port (there were some oval port intakes too) truck lower with a box upper or aftermarket upper from Saleen. Here's spacers to show the port layouts.
Very cool. I was just talkin' to a co-worker that has a couple of these engines he's gonna scrap. Maybe I'll snag one.
Definately interested. I was brainstorming this very idea the night you mentioned it, but I didn't have a manifold yet to mock it up.
i have thought of something like this before on this intake....but had the rare inline 4-v carb intake off a boss 302 in mind.....one of those oneday jobs......
May be interested as well...depending on price. Had thought about a sheetmetal one, but didn't think it would look right. That cast one looks great! Kamp
Great idea, wish I'd thought of that. Well, I guess I'll just have to settle for selling more 2 BBL air cleaners Dennis
Thats the coolest thing since sliced bread! I just had to educate my girlfriend on just how cool this rerally is! How much? I want one to have and to hold.
very cool, you sure your not a Kiwi ?? I may be interested in taking a look at these, there are lots of SBF fans down here with not much inthe way of manifolds....
Hey mate, where were these a few years ago??? Would have really made my bucket perfect. You should sell a few of those.
i would buy one. thats pretty kick ass ive wondered for a long time if that could be done to one of those manifolds any idea on price?
I've looked at this thread about 10 times today....and provided the price isn't crazy (shipping and duties from Austrailia?) I've decided that even if I don't have the money to by one when they are cast, I will have the money to buy one when they are cast. I sent you a PM. Hope to hear something soon. EDIT: Oh yeah have you thought about a 4 carb setup? A Holley 97 has about 155 cfm. x3 = about 465 cfm which is a bit small for a good running 5.0 in the States. x4 = about 620 cfm and that's just about perfect. A staggered setup would be cool looking. EDIT #2: Just read that Stromberg 48's are rated at 175 cfm (http://www.reds-headers.com/html/red_s_engine_talk_10.html)... so x3 = about 525 cfm and that's getting real close to very good.
Thanks for all the interest guys. This one has been made to go on the truck manifold with the rectangular ports. You'd be looking at $215 US dollars a piece. Checking on freight at the moment. I don't really want to guess, but I'd say you'd be less than 250 for the whole thing delivered (air). But don't quote me on that. I'll let you all know a definite as soon as I can.
