My brother(thesupersized) and I bought this shitbox rotted to death 51 ford just to practice a first chop on... so we have experience when it's time to cut my brothers 50 ford...today was the first day...chopped 5 in front 7 in back the back window is just thrown on we are doing straight posts and well here's some pictures of this turd. after chop is done...most likely going to the crusher

    Hey,

Ya gotta great start and the flow is good too! Did the package shelf
get moved foward, as well? Don't crush it, learn all you can about
workin' metal on it. It sounds crazy, but I'd go for buildin new lower
quarters and skirts for it. When the time comes to repair a good one,
you'll already have the skills necessary to nail it. At the least, sell it
to someone who can learn something from it.

  3. I wouldn't crush it either. Nice to have a car to practice on ,that isn't a customers or a buddies, that will get pissed at you.

the package shelf is currently cut out and I believe it will not be moved forward, we'll see tommrow what's happening with that probably...and yeah the car is actually alot worse in person..the steering box is cracked off the frame, front crossmember cut out, floors, floor braces gone. trunk floor gone, we just dont really have the space to keep it off to the side while we continue other projects that are actually worth building. currently we have like 6 other cars that aren't finished and this thing.

we bought this car just to learn and experience a chop. if this car were to be built it would need a 120% restoration lots of sheetmetal work, drivetrain, front clip, and probably a subframe and then all the stupid stuff obviously...

after its done we'll put it up for sale...better someone has the car then the junkyard..

looks tight, my next one will probably be around the same dimensions and straight pillar, the one i have now was just a beating. how did you do those quarter windows @ the c pillar? i did a series of pie cuts and bent it by hand bit looks like you met two pieces? looks nice.

any pics of the a pillar? is it spread and welded in already?

before you trash that thing you should cut out the crossmember that the radiator support bolts to and send it to me! I would glady pay you for your time. And great work on the chop, practicing on junk is a great idea!

Little more chop than how I like em, but not too bad for a first chop!

Split the bottom of the A-pillar on the next one.

well i almost got the doortop together, it was pretty hard to do, the door is all fucked up so i couldnt really adjust to good, so the gaps are kinda off. I coulda got it done if i had another set of hands. and of coarse ignore the back window.

That is the exact piece I am after! I havent been able to get one to a place where I can cut it off. If there is any way you can cut that piece off and ship it my way I would be a happy camper! By the way, the chop is looking bithcing. Wish I had room for a spare practice car.

this is an old post from about last year or so..that car has been long scrapped with most of the good shit saved in our stock (back window, windsplits, trunk hinges, etc..)

this chop was the practice chop for my brothers car thats currently being chopped...

the thread for the current chop is a few pages in already even though it was made yesterday..

it would be cool to pass this car off to someone else on the h.a.m.b for practice instead of crushing it. do some work pass it on. eventually it would get back on the road and everyone would be better for it :)

the chops lookin sweet, can wait to see what you do with your brothers car!
