I took these pics in the very early 80's at the Antique nationals at OCIR. It's been one of my favorite 34's ever since I saw it! Does anyone know where it is now or anything about it. ...just interested.
I think it's here in Minnesota! There's one just like it owned by a couple of brother's out Titus' way. Theirs has a Hemi set back to about mid firewall if that helps. PM Titus, he may be able to say for sure.
Wow..............back from the dead.............I'm pretty sure its not Lance's Jersey Suede, but then again, what do I know !!
I think that car was originally built by Don Ferguson senior back in the late forties/early fifties. I believe the chop was patterned after the Pierson coupe. I think Paul Gommi had the car for years. Someone posted pics on here last year ; It looked like it was in was in the middle of a major restoration. Man what a killer chop!
I've got a bunch of pics of it getting the once over on my 'puter. PM me your email address if you want pics of it.

I know Lance and the Suede. That's not it. Just about the same chop though . (Good eye 51 Farmtruck) Keep lookin' it sounds like you are on the right trail... Smokey
It was Don Ferguson's car. low springs was restoring this car at his shop in Long Beach. He posted a thread last Sept. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208405 It must be done by now. I'd love too see it again!!
I was waiting for some-one to find this thread before I saved them to my photobucket account, and post them here. this would have to be one of the nicest stock-grilled 34 race cars ever.
Beautiful job...but being as sick as I am for the old look I'd still rather the original 32c/39c style or even 145. At least 145 still wears the battle scars of old age and Hot Rodding. (I must be nuts....) Still love to see some detail pics of the restored car though. Its a real beaut...
I agree these cars get waaaayyy over restored these days. it's like taking the Mona Lisa, sraping off all the paint and doing an air brushed version covered with 10 coats of clear. I wouldn't call it a restoration. Sure is beautiful to look at though. Gives me a tingly feeling!
it was great to see the car after so long. i never saw it finished completely. it left the shop painted and buffed out. it was not meant to be a perfect restoration. the owner wanted it to be almost like the way it would have looked back in the day. i never thought i would see the car again. i was walking the show when i walked passed it. i thought that car looks awfully familiar. turned back and sure enough that's the car i did. after staring at it for a bit i spoke to a lady and said i did the work on it. she was happy to hear that and she called her husband over. we got to talking and he let me open the doors up and look around inside and all. i mentioned that i have pics of it in the body shop getting worked on. he was thrilled. he wants me to fwd them to him so they can be kept as records of the build up. they also own the black car in the background. nice people.
