Now I'm PISSED!
You guys told me that the mystery doors I've been keeping in my shed for 5 years were for a Henway and neither one of the trucks have doors!!!!!

The yellow Henway was in the December '79 Hot Rod, as "Homer's Henway". It seems I saw Norm's Henway in NSRA coverage on ESPN pulling wagons full of spectators around to view all the action. I didn't like the blue paintjob, missed the original orange.

Where's a tree hugger when you need one? To each his own. Be interesting to see up close.

Norm's Henway was the better one of the two that used to go to the nationals.
I always liked Norm's best. If you see him ask him about the polish chicken he used to haul around in the back of the truck. No joke, he really had a pure bred polish chicken. Fluffy feathers and all. Norms family used to sell eggs in the forties and fifties. He really knows his chickens. And thats no yoke!!! |

after reading this thread, I've seen quite a few so-called ratrods that will qualify for Henway status in ten or twenty years. The Henway was purpose built as a joke... I sure hope those r-rods were too.

The '70's produced several trucks like this, Bruce Fortier built one as well. I always dug the C cab style, would love to see similar haulers rebuilt and cruising again, like Brizio's,Babbs', and others.

norm's henway is tucked away at his house in leadhill.
it's still in good shape but the frame is broken, best part is nothing has been changed since the 70's! he keeps talking about getting it back on the road soon! |

I talked to Norm on the power tour last year and he was, again, saying he was working on the Henway to get it back on the road.

The last time I saw it on the road was in the mid 80's when the Mid West Deuces had their Deuce Doin's in Harrison, Arkansas. Norm brought the truck out and it still looked really good then. Norm Is a super nice guy and always took time to answer my questions about the truck when I was a little kid.
I saw him at the T-Bucket Nationals in Overland Park, Kansas a couple of years ago and I asked him if he still had a polish chicken. He was suprised I remembered that and we talked about the HenWay a little. It would be really neat to see it on the road again. |
