I need samples and codes for some golds......

The T-rantula is getting painted gold....

I'm looking for a gold, gold...

Everything I find is too pale, or too orangey, or too copperish....

What about Byron's coupe? I like that gold.

I'm looking for an off the shelf type color, no candys.

I don't know, I need to find a good gold, and its code.

    What do you know?

Please post pics of gold cars......

    Thanks, Bob

The gold on my '32 is California Gold Met. #5412 (1998 GM Chevrolet/Pontiac/Geo). The color was used on F bodies and Trackers and is off the shelf.

The other gold I really looked at was Saffron Met. #61794 (1998 Volvo), but it really is more orange/copper than what I used. The one I used picks up more brown/green depending on the light.

When I was looking I just kept going through the chip books and had the two pages pulled out with the colors I liked.

A student showed up once at the school I work at in a Camaro with the color on it and that decided it for me.

The chip pages are just like the ones in the scans like you find here:

  4. I haven't researched it for sure yet, but I'm going to find out what that gold on Poteets 40 truck is. I think it's HotHues Sierra Gold. There's a pick in one of the TRJ's, it's a real goldass gold.

check out a 1971 corvette color called "war bonnet yellow." pretty cool color. in the sun it looks alot like pagan gold. very vibrant gold very much on the yellow side of that color with metallic. neat color. it can look butterscoth in some light, pagan gold in the sun as mentioned before, and sometimes even a lime gold especially if under flourescent lighting.

Just finished a 29 highboy painted 57 Chevy Aztec Gold with a white interior. Looked 50ish. Also the 32 5 window coupe built by at guy I think named Rick at Vintage Air is cool, it's in their ads.

Poteet's Gold looks like it is some kind of multi step process. It is just too vibrant to be straight out the can isn't it?

    Yeah, it looks expensive.....

I think those hot hues are duponts candys.

If it doesn't cost a fortune I'll use it, cause it rules.

But otherwise Byrons coupes color is it... I've seen it in person a bunch and I love that car....

    I heart Mr T.

I dont have a picture to show, but Pontiac had a GTO color called "tiger gold", and it is a true gold color.

Bob: I've been looking for "a perfect gold" for a while. I have spotted three fairly new factory-painted cars (maybe 2005-2006) with sort of deep shiny dark whatsoever gold that were pretty close what I've been looking for, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chrysler Neon, and Honda SUV something. Just as a hint, sorry no pictures.

I did a little checking today and mixed the Sierra Gold to check the color....that aint it!!! Sierra Gold is a reddish dark copper. This truck looks like Pacific gold, I mixed that one as well and It definately looks like the color of the trucks picture.

I like this color. Pretty sure it is called Inca Gold. It's a special edition PT Cruiser color and we almost painted the 58 roof and scallops this color. Ended up with HOK Spanish Gold, but it's a candy.

Tiger Gold is a very "gold" gold, not yellow or orange or any other BS.

And it's an old color, if that matters at all.

And I got a muscle car in your thread - WITH CRAGAR SS MAGS. hahaaa

I'm going to say other than a complementing ground coat or base, not a multi step process. obviously a BC/CC, but what makes the truck look as it does is the level of surface quality. Perfect panels and perfect paint application, no matter what color, just look fuckin magic.

    Thanks, bob

  30. My fave---PPG mixing gold. DMD 620. Like the PT gold, but not as rich/yellow. Kill it with some silver pearl and it will look like George's pickup.
