That is too weird- I was telling my pops about the British show Top Gear this weekend, and how they played soccer with subcompacts, and he pops off with-"ever heard of Auto Polo?", and then goes into a 20-minute dissertation about the cars used, and how it was played, etc. I'll see if he has any similar articles about it and post them here.

can't post pics but they played auto socker with an old round water bouy about 10 feet around. The cars had big rounded hoop roll bars so they would roll completely over if tipped .They would push the ball around with the cars !The roll bars were steel wagon tires most of the cars were model T s stripped of their bodys

I vaguely remember that the early NSRA meets they usta have a game where a passenger in a rod would polo a ball around a slalom course with a push broom(?)
Probably can't get "insurance" for anything fun any more

Thats the stupidist thing I think i have ever seen, from thier stand point of course, hillarious from here. I thought some of those early board track racers were crazy, but thats just nutts! Anyone know how fast they got going? And to think, no pads or helmets, I dunno whether they were "real men" or "real stupid"
It would be a funny band name.

I have never heard of anything like this.
This looks like something that may have went on at a BSM party a few years ago!

Probably true! You could always do it at night and use a ball of fire!
Any idea how long of a time period this was considered a "Sport"?

Wow
Not the same but the local Circle Track used to have 'Auto Ball' in the infield with 70's vintage cars (refugees from the Demo Derby) and the ball was bigger around than I am tall (I'm 6'3"). |
