When I think about my Merc that I am currently building, it's something I've wanted for a long time. In fact, it's not even my first Mercury. When I was 19 years old, I bought my first 1951 Mercury - a four door from Detroit, with the original Mercury flathead, that was in reasonable condition. I had grand visions of what that car would be, despite my lack of skills or finances. Ten years passed and it never was the car I dreamed of. I sold the car and then regretted it. I've had other muscle cars from the early 70's, a few street bikes, but that Mercury was the one that got away. Last April, Nearly 20 years after I purchased my first Mercury, I purchased my second 1951 Mercury - an Arizona car, two door, missing engine and transmission - and only minor rust issues. This time, the car that's been in my mind for twenty years is becoming reality - and when it's done - I'm gonna drive the hell out of it.

If you're around the Detroit area, possibly Port Huron, and you purchased a 1951 Mercury four door from a guy named Jerry around 2003-2006, you just might have my old Merc. It was originally dark green with a white top, but I had rattle canned it flat black. Please get in touch., I'd like to know what happened to it.

I've had an opportunity to meet some great people during this build. I'd like to say thanks to all of you - people I've purchased parts from, people who've shared knowledge, people who've provided encouragement - Thank you.
