After seeing his work on the '58 Ford wagon at the GNRS, I went looking for some more of Darryl Hollenbeck's paintwork expecting to find a website or the like, but nothing. So I turn to an alternate resource. I know he also did the Sam Barris Merc and a bunch of stuff for D'Agostino, but let's see some of his other paintjobs. His work is stunning, and he is definitely one of the best painters around today.

I'll start it with these two.

His work is unreal. Nice guy too. I can only imagine the feeling of being able to paint some of the legendary kustoms/hot rods he has done...must be a great experience.

I forgot about the Ala Kart. The color on that '36 looks almost unreal. Amazing work, I hope to meet him one day.

Well do me a favor and give him a pat on the back and tell him some kid from NJ admires the shit outta him, lol. :D

Is the '40 Merc pictured the one that debuted at the GNRS last year?? Black base with some purply candy over it I think it was. Stardust from D'Agostino?

How about some of the Mercs he's done?

  17. Darryl is one of the nicest people in hot rodding. I've been able to meet and talk to him a few times over the years, plus he's one of the best automotive painter in the world.

can you tell us how many hours he had into doing that wagon.. must have been a ton with all the taping and untaping and retaping again. 100 hrs would not surprise me when you look at all the panels that had been painted

Is it true that this was his first real panel paint aka lowrider paint job?

  22. Darryl has done some outstanding work for sure and along with Terri and the rest of the Brizio's they are all really neat people.

A friend of mine wants to paint his car in a color that Darryl had painted a 32 in and both Darryl and Terri were really helpful. It was most appreciated!

I met Darryl at the GNRS. Not only was I blown away by his mad skillz, but what a nice guy as well. An absolute freakish talent. He mentioned it was the first lowrider panel job he's ever done. RULER!!!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU! for the props. I have been very fortunate to do something that I love to do, Lock me in a Spray Booth any day and I am a happy man. I am Thankful to have been able to do some Historical Hot Rods & Customs over the years (Thanks to brother Roy)

The 59 Ranch wagon we had about 1200 total hours, with 150-200 in just paint work, door jams, under doors, tailgate, under hood, and yes it was my first panel job, but something I had wanted to try for awhile. I had done some blended job Back in the Acme days for Johnny D & Rick Dore. My wife Terri will post some more pics soon
THANKS AGAIN!! I really appreciate it.
