I don't think mine has been posted on this thread yet. Some say a "real" hot rod can't have fenders - whatever... .
I hope mine will fit one day... 28 tudor, stock A frame, 1947 59ab, 47 truck open drive trans, banjo...
I'm wanting to finish my 32 Aussie phaeton in a 40s style but can't seem to locate any references pics/information. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Rat - Now thats one cool / period looking roadster! Nice to see a ride that is not slammed to the ground - Always like the look of black wires - Very well done John
Here's some pics of the Tom Morris Roadster. The one is from El Mirage in 1950 and the current picture is taken in our shop after dragging it out of the garage it sat in since 55. Tom's is the one on the right.
Thx John....no lowering here haha, no dropped axle, mech brakes etc, 21 stud, all pre WWII, 40s parts. Black wires look wayy better than the red ones imo. Rat
Thats the recipe I favour as well ( i.e. all pre WWII ) - my 41 Super Deluxe Club Coupe is just like my Grandpa outfitter her after WWII - theres something down right cool about the simplicity and basic/clean looks of a period rod or souped up old bomb!
great thread guys, got thru it from the beginnig and i love dem old pic´s.. btw one question: why did they leave the splash aprons on on the A-framed cars, for the look?
Way cool. Just wondering (ortho versus panchromatic film-wise) if the car was the same colors in both era photos? Gary
Shot by my son on a drive last week.....Screams 40's to me.... <a href="http://s614.photobucket.com/albums/tt223/hotrd32/HAMB%20Stuff/?action=view&current=29-on-drive-Aaron.jpg" target="_blank"></a>
Remember, half of that decade was during wartime. Most of the guys that were able bodied enough to build a car were in the service.
