Those of you who are looking for some more cool pictures, even late models stuff, there are two facebook accounts. One for Islip speedway, and one for Freeport speedway. Just spent many hours looking at some really cool pictures.

Wes Moody; I always like this car.

  22. Great looking old coupe. I still remember the Kenny Shoemaker Rene Charland wreck in turn 3 at Syracuse. I think Charland spun and Wes ran into the ass end of Kenny. Then all hell broke loose. Kenny was in the Kugler owned 24s Barrel Head Root Beer, I was semi-crewing on the car that week.

I helped Wes back then.We built that car in a barn shared with a horse up in Oswego county. We had an appointment in Springfield Mass. to get custom hedders built at Agawam Speed Shop.It had snowed and took two full days to get it out of the barn.We did sit on the front row of the Spring Sizzler that year.Later on that year Wes crashed it at Lancaster and tore down the starters stand which my boss Bruce Fleishman (from B&M Speed Shop)was in.It later ran as a dirt/asphalt car.It was a three window coupe when we cut it off of it's frame at the junkyard but Wes sat so far back we made it a five window out of it.

I was at that New Yorker 400. I don't remember that car or that driver; Wayne Johnson? There were a lot of Modifieds there. I do remember Lou Lazzaro that day. He was unbelievable, he won both 200 lappers.
