Believe it or not, Donn Lowe and Donny Lowe are two different guys -- so I was told by Donn. They are cousins. I don't know which of them owned the shoebox in the picture.
Car was owned by Harry Smithers here in New Jersey...He drove it for years just like that but unchopped. Barry Mazza did the very well proportioned chop sometime later. There are pics on Riksters site of Barry chopping it under the Barry Mazza photo collection section..... Harry passed a few years back...
Ya I caught that once you said it....I remember Jimmie's car being that color at a Lead Sled Spectacular way back when...Thanks for catching that Rod.
Few more from the Nitro Marty Collection. 1982 The Black and flamed 58 on the right the same as the one at this years Hunnert Pile up show... RedLineToys Photo
That 57 was owned by a guy named Jim Davis from Minnesota. that was in the early/mid 80's. I have not seen it in many years
don't know about you guys, but doesn't this car make you think of the watson grapevine? it does for me...
AHHHAAAAA..I think I caught Moriarty in a fallacy! Pratt's Chevy had a trick 6 in it...I remember hearing him run through the gears in Springfield Ohio in 83, or so...the main reason I am building a straight 6 with a stick in my 46 Chevy!!!!!!!!!!
Oh...didn't anyone notice that the guy looking into Pratt's car is custom car designer, and builder, and student of Harry Bradley...Dave Crook? And I think that's me behind Donn Lowe's shoebox, in that series of photos...that was a long time ago!
Since he has his uniform he's been through basic training. He was probably home on leave after training (or from regular duty) and has backed-out his Ford for a look and a drive. That '37 looks like it was very sanitary. I'll bet his navy buddies heard all about that car while they were far away at war.
This KustomLincoln Lady photo could have been taken at the same location... but its hard to see with the low res photos posted. Anyway... the well known Buick... Great photo.
------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a color shot of the front view of it. TwoChops
Priceless!!!! Must have been great to be able to walk around those cars. Even though only one was a real Barris Kustom
Holy sh#t!!! This has got to be the best post ever, 52 pages!! I'd buy a book of this post........... Thanx to all contributors... I got to go back and continue reading.
