That's not dust, this is dust. And just so you know, the roof is red too.

So nice, love those early 60's Galaxies, it looks like the one on the new tv show Fast And Loud other than that one was a 4speed. Great find!!!

An antique parts dealer told me the car he got the most requests for parts for, even back 30 years ago was 63 and 64 Fords. He said lots of people that remembered them as their family cars growing up, wanted to restore them. He was bragged about how much he was getting for NOS front and rear bumpers and he had a pile of them!

There are certain parts for those cars that trade at frightful prices until someone decides to repro them. Then the question gets to be whether the repro is OE-quality.

The trim on the front edge of the hood, for instance. I think it'd reproed now, I managed to find a couple decent NOS examples under $200, but some were going for $500+ on that bay thing.

If anyone has NOS or perfect used tailgate window end-seals or the plastic stone-guard pieces that go between the taillights and the bumper on the wagons, I'd love to hear from you...

    Plan to.

Does have some lower quarter crustie rusties that will need replacing.
At some point I will do that and repaint her.
The paint is the old original laquer. Lots of Normal scratches
I'm going to go through a BUNCH of pads buffing her out.

The interior is really sanitary. Runs good - just working out the cob webs etc.

I have a couple different types of wheels I may change every now and then for a cool look ( my 62 vintage Chrome reverse with spiders or my 55 Buick Wires with 2 bar spinner with redlines) but the car will remain stock body engine etc.

Working the dust and cob webs out. Changed the oil and put some MM oil in.
No more puffs of smoke when started. Motor runs good / shifts good.
Have a slight brake drift to the right - will need to bleed and adjust I guess.

I'll buffer this weekend and it will take A LOT of pads to get the dirt and sctratches out of the original laquer.

Oh the joys of old cars !

    Yeaaaaaaaa

Man, that's an awesome story and a great find. I have a similar story about the 64 Galaxie 500XL 4 door hard top. It belonged to an elderly lady in Waco, Tx that drove it to church and to the grocery store. Must have been one heck of a lady that needed to get from point a to b quickly because it has a 390fe in it. She passed away and her son inherited it and drove it for a while until he passed away. For 7 yrs it sat in their barn collecting (a lot) dust. I now have it on the road and driving the hell out of it! Too much fun.

My favourite Fords, '62's ain't bad either. Great car.

  24. That thing is really neat. A next door neighbor bought a brand new 64 Black 390 4 speed. I got to ride in it before it had 10 miles on it. Loved it it was super fast to a 9 year old. Bought my own in 1970. And just recently bought a 1964 4 Door Galaxie 500 XL. Gives me more room to haul Grandkids.

Super nice find! Congrats! A late Uncle of mine had a red 63 1/2 , 390, 3 speed on the column car when I was a kid. My Aunt wrecked the front end, Uncle bought another 63 1/2 that was hit hard in the rear, took front cap and engine and put in his, it was a 427 with two fours! The car was a 4 speed, black bucket seat interior with a console, he wouldn't put the four speed in his or the black interior, he kept the original red bench and three on the tree.
I have traced the car through two owners since he had it, but the trail went cold. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it is still as I remember it from back then....
