Front page for the General, there goes any chance of buying him a hat anytime soon.

Nope, if you go back and read a lot of the front page journal entries, they are taken from the pages of the HAMB. Been that way for years. It's traditional Jalopy Journal. :p

  6. You're absolutely right. Just playin'! That video deserves all the exposure it can get. I ,like others, wish we could have gotten a glimpse in Mark's studio. I wouldn't be surprised if we see something in another series of videos though???

Have one of his prints in my family room, never would have guessed he was so well spoken too.

He pretty succinctly put my view of the hobby. Plus the video was really well done. Great way to start a Friday! Off to the WA East West Flathead Run and then to the shop!

That's just what I needed today. Makes everything we do make a lot more sense. Color me inspired too.

This time round American Hand wields the hammer of truth to hit the "Gospel" nail squarely on the head.:)

    Great stuff! Well said, General.

  20. I have thought for some time we have lost our American edge. As a kid that grew up in the 40s and 50s we had to use our own ingenuity to come up with our "toys". We recycled before it was even a word. It scares me to see us becoming a society that relies on other countries make our stuff for us. We have the knowledge but some how we let others do the work because it is cheaper or to put in the modern terminology, the bottom line looks better. I love to see what we can do, but we as individuals need to take it on our selves to do it.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm old and see things differently.

    Dick
This coming from a guy that a year and a half ago thought I was going to be able to give up owning and working on an old car. Although the one I bought was a running driving car, there are things I am going to change. Make it mine ,you know. Most of you have been there.

I've watched this film a bunch of times, reminds me of Rancho Deluxe, the same quiet passion and devotion to simplicity and craftmanship.
The same can be said about the Film-maker, make sure you see the others in the series, although off topic, they are equally compelling.
These films make me feel hopeful about the future of craftsmanship and manufacturing in our country. Perhaps not everyone in a generation has been lost to vidoe games, there are still folks who care about creating with their hands, but I guess that's Ryan's point, isn't it.
I have my young son watch all these, I think it's working, he wants to start a businees building Long Boards after school and at the Ty-rods show last week he asked me if I thought it was still possible to find a T roadster body to build!

  23. One of the things I love about the HAMB is that most of the guys and gals on here are trying to pass our love of things mechanical and pride in doing it ourself on to the future generations. Keep up the good work.

    Dick
