Default Attention Idaho Hotrodder’s

I have found out from my father that there are a couple of our fellow hot rodding buddies that are in need of our help and support. There are two brothers by the name of Augustine and Gumi that hail from Saint Anthony, Idaho. They are known by their friends as Gichi & Gumi.
Gumi had been experiencing headaches and never went to the doctor. Well one morning he wakes up with a swollen face and he can’t walk. Well, long story short he had tumor at the base of his skull that was restricting the flow of blood to his brain. Now he dependent on the help of his wife and daughter to help accomplish the things we all take for granted, like standing on your own two feet. Now he and his family are beginning the long and painful road to recovery.

Now a little back story. These brothers have been helping each other build hot rods for quite a few years, and most of you know how it is when you lose your buddy in the garage. It’s almost like you lost your right hand and feels off balance. We have seen them go from chopping tops in the dirt lot next to the house to helping one another build a one car garage then on to building a shop big enough to fit all of their projects. They have built cars for each of their sons, wives and mothers. Everything they build is about as far from stock as you can get. They taught themselves how to chop tops, do channel jobs and even sectioning if that’s what they felt like. They live a humble life and just the sheer joy of working in the garage together as brothers is what keeps them going.

Since the tumor Gumi has not had the drive or even the motivation to go out in the garage, which is understandable when dealing with something like this. We want to give them that feeling back. We have already gotten him a wheel chair for the house and a motorized chair so he can head outside to the garage. We might have to put mud tires on it just to get him through the mud and snow

Now let’s get down to brass tacks.
All of the local hotrodders are getting together to raise some funds to help his family out and to let him know that he may be down but he sure as hell ain’t out.
On 21 July at Dickeys bb-q pit located at 2090 East 17th Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83404 from 5-9 p.m. the raffle will start at 6:30 there will be a car show,cruise-in,raffle,just good reason to get together and support our friends’ event. Items are being gathered up for the raffle and from what I understand the cars that show or buy a raffle ticket ($1) will be getting a free bb-q sandwich and ice cream when they by a drink. Half of the cost of the drink will go towards the family and all of the raffle money will be going to them as well. After it is all said and done the closest of their friends will cruise into Saint Anthony in their rods to deliver all the proceeds of the raffle and donation pot in person. Now is that cool or what!

All of this is being done without the family knowing so it will be a good surprise and a good boost for moral.

Remember, Friends give each other a hand up not a handout.

I have already made my donation by adding to the pot of things being raffled by ordering a set of “Blue Prints” from one of our own HAMB members.
The two guys heading this up are Roger Littleford at 208-523-5947 and Dick Brooks at 208-521-1938 if you local Idaho rodders have questions. They are both a couple of good guys and I respect them as if they were my own fathers.
Thank you for your support
Viva
