Rik and Barry,Thank you very much for sharing this stuff with all of us. Whats the story on this one?? Was it ever saved??
Rikster, glad there are people like you, preserving our important automotive past. Thanks for sharing with us. I feel really lucky to have the Aztec almost in my backyard, compared to you. Despite the rainy weather, he brought it out for the Rumblers show on the 3rd. Took a ton of pictures and video. Love that car! BTW..I think you would have liked the Kustom Dodge, with Carson top, that was there in bare metal. JT P.S. thanks also for finding the pictures of "Starstruck" '63 Olds Starfire. It's my insperation for my '64 ragtop project.
THIS IS THE "CROOKED KUSTOM" FEATURED IN 1959 CUSTOM CAR ANNUAL,JUNKED DUE TO MIS ALIGNED HEADLIGHTS. HOWEVER WAS NOT JUNKED AND ...TO BAD , HAS BEEN RUSTING AWAY. HOWEVER THE HEADLIGHT WAS RE POSITIONED BUT, NEVER FIHISHED. BARRY
Cool Pics, this one belongs to my father, the car was updated in the 50's with headrest's and quad headlights, The car was first done like this in 46. Here's a pic of the car today
I love that car. If you have more info.. .or photo's please share. I have a folder for this on eon my site. Ebay had this 1952 Photo ending yesterday.. I bid.. but somebody else walked away with it... unfortunately.
The car was bought new by Max "Maxamillion" King in 1940 and it was first done in 1946 by Meeker Auto Body in NJ, my father moved and a lot of pictures are packed up so I will have to go digging, we have one shot where the full race flatty is out of it sitting on a big piece of velvet. In 59 it recieved all the otjher treatments and is basicall untouched since then. This is the only other pic I have at work.
DITTO on the great weekend start, love kustom history........... man I sure wish I lived in those days...............
Thank you Rik, boy Moonglow sure looks ugly with the rear bumperguard. Great pics. Barry's a real swell guy, what a dude.
Any more info or pics of this car? I always envisioned those '52-54 Merc hardtops with a nice chop and subtle customizing. I love it. Rik, you rule. I didn't realize you were not in the US until today. Are you a transplant?
I still need to make a folder for it on my site... soon. Here it getting its top chopped. And to awnser your second question... And was born and raised here in the Netherlands.
Ah, I assumed since your English is perfect that you may have spent some time in the states. Thanks for the great chop picture, I love seeing these cars as work is actually being done on them..
Man i love old pics, seems like times were just better then. I could look at these all day. Thanks for posting them.
Rik, Another great portfolio to have in the archives!! Thanks again for anwsering my random questions. Jon
The aztec is still on the road here in florida. The car has shown up at the rumblers show for the past several years. This year it came out in spite of the rain. There are photos of the car posted here. www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1772752&posted=1#post1772752
