Hopefully Coker will buy the molds.

That sucks. i run Denmans on my Lincoln. I hope coker picks up the dies for their whitewalls as I really like them and have never had a problem with them.

  7. I wonder if they can't get the raw materials or can't pay for them.

I work in the tire biz, what I heard is they shut down their domestic manufacturing plant but the tires will now be made overseas or Mexico? not sure?

"Pensler said the military stopped buying Denman tires five years ago when it chose Michelin as its only supplier for off-road vehicles"

The chemical companies have put us on alocation! because they are using all the surfactants for the Gulf spill!

  11. Says the plant was shut down in early February so this has been going on for longer than the oil spill which would indicate no payee the bills.

  12. i think denman made tires for coker.

I don't get it. Buy tires for your military rigs from Denman, the same company which makes (well, made), the Ground Hawg tires which you'll find on lifted 4x4s all over the country ... or from Michelin, a company best suited for manufacturing tires for sports cars and 'cute utes'.

  21. Titan Tire bought Denman's assets for $4.4 million. Titan several years back bought out the Goodyear agricultural tire division.

So far Titan makes most of it's tires for US consumption in the US.

I agree with you 100% that the US Government should be supporting its own, but in fairness i think your selling Michelin a little short in its capabilities.

I be surprised if they aren't already supplying extreme use tires for trucking and Military use all over Europe and the rest of the world.
Denman has been around the 4x4 market for a dogs age...but realisticly they aren't the only company capable of making extreme tires.

    That sucks about Denman.

When I worked in the Stewart & Stevenson plant building these FMTV's for the US Military in 2001...they ran Michelins and alot of the parts vendors were overseas. I always thought that was messed up. Now the company that has the contract to build these trucks is BAE systems...aka British Aerospace. WTF?

Also, the local PD uses BMW motorcycles.

I have no faith in the government, federal, state, or local.

  30. Guys, plenty of Michelin tires are produced right here in the good 'ol USA. Just like plenty of GoodYear and BFGoodrich tires are produced overseas, too.

Many police departments are going to the BMW patrol bike over the H-D. The BMW literally runs circles around the cop Harley. Plus, BMW offers a considerably longer and better warranty on their cop bikes. Truth hurts, guys. I'm pro-buy-US whenever possible; but sometimes, the US offerings are not the BEST offerings.

Far as Denman tires go, someone will probably buy the equipment and molds to produce their better-selling tires.
