Ok, this is a bit of a cop out... I had 15 minutes to get a post done this morning and I've got a serious case of writer's block. As such, I figured I would entertain you fellas with sound rather than words. More specifically, I'm counting on the sou...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Roadsters on a speedway. I just got to say I don't believe it gets much better than that. The cars just sounded so different 60 years ago. Makes me all quivery, and just a little jeaeous. Thanks Friend I don't think it is the engine that is broke. maybe you are just too broke to make it sound like that. I still want to stuff an Offy in a '27 roadster someday, I know it will never happen but a sound bite like this inspires me to do something to become wealthy so I can do something as obscene as that.
That was neat to listen to this morning. As far as the kid's under the school desk,I remember having to do that alot when I was in school. Thanks alot for those memories.
Man-O-Man!!! I could wake up to that sweet music every morning! Chevies, Novis, and Offys... Oh my!!! Ryan, Good morning and THANKS!!!
Hahaha!!!! Seriously!!! Anyone have some specs on that Red car with the injected Chevy V8? I gotta know what's going on inside that engine!!! It sounds so rad when it's ripping across the track.
Dammit... I need one!!!!!!!!! I could watch that over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and... ok. I'm done.
That was a flashback for sure. Remember when the Indy 500 was on the radio on Memorial Day Monday and they'd follow the leader around the track through all the turns on the final lap? Back before rear engines and ground effects and computers.
I think a set of Firestone Indy specials and Halibrands would look sick on my project. Hmmmm.... Where are they getting those anyway? Coker?
Wow, Chills, just love the sound of a "real" engine at full song! As affective as Beethoven. (No not the damn dog)
Coker makes firestone Indy tires. Two sizes and they don't even nibble on your ear before they break it of in ya (as my friend Del says) at $378 a tire!!! Haha worth every penny though!!! http://store.cokertire.com/800-18-firestone-indy-roadster-racing-tire.html
Awesome video, started playing it at work and had every tech in the shop gathered around the computer in about 30 seconds...
With the exception of Top Fuel and todays Funnycars, the sounds that really get me are from the movies,Grind Prix and LeMans. I always turn it up when I watch those two. Great thread,Ryan...
Awesome Sounds!! Now all I have to do it find my "Big Sounds of the Drags" album. Thanks for the memories, Cat
To so many here, except for the Chevy, these are new sounds. To me they are haunting memories. The only thing lacking was the voice of Sid Collins.
That rules! And here's the first part in case anyone is interested... http://www.youtube.com/user/zuzulo56#p/search/0/oaN9y6VuFhY
I got some low rez video from my still camera at the Miller Meet some years back. The sound comes through pretty good. Just click the picture to go to the video: This Miller wasn't pushing it too hard, but the gear/supercharger whine is unique.
